Hi, dear bloggers and food lovers! Good morning!! How are you all doing? Enjoy your weekend. Do you like fermented foods like tempeh? Tempeh is my favorite source of protein, and I usually make it into fried tempeh. This time, I’m trying something different: I’m making tempeh rolls wrapped in nori. It turns out they’re just as delicious. You can eat them with rice or on their own, paired with your favorite sauce. Okay, let’s get right to it
Ingredients:
- 4 sheets of nori
- 400 grams of tempeh
- 10 tbsp tapioca flour
- 5 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 eggs
- cooking oil
Instructions:
Prepare the tempeh, then dice it and place it in a heat-resistant bowl. Once diced, steam the tempeh for 15 minutes. When it’s cooked, remove it and let it cool slightly.
Next, place the tempeh in a food processor and add the dry ingredients: tapioca flour, all-purpose flour, garlic powder, ground pepper, and salt. Next, crack the egg and add the egg whites to the food processor. Turn on the food processor and mix all the ingredients together. Then, add the egg yolk to the tempeh mixture and turn the food processor back on to make the mixture smoother and easier to pipe.
Once finished, transfer the tempeh mixture into a piping bag for easy shaping. Next, divide the nori into 4 pieces and pipe the tempeh mixture lengthwise onto each sheet of nori. Then, roll up the mixture as shown in the picture above; moisten the ends slightly with water so they stick together. Repeat until all the mixture is used up, then cut the nori rolls into smaller pieces.
Next, heat cooking oil in a pan. Once hot, add the nori rolls to the pan and cook over medium heat until done and golden brown. Remove from the pan and drain. If you don’t want to fry them all at once, you can freeze them for later use.
Serve the nori-wrapped tempeh rolls with your favorite sauce, and they’re ready to eat.
