Saludos y Bendiciones Runners.
Greetings and blessings, runners.
Today I wrapped up my training in my beloved City of the Sun. They were wonderful days spent with family, and I also took the opportunity to train on different terrains, with different people, and in a pretty tough environment due to the temperatures. They were undoubtedly wonderful vacation days in the city of Cabimas, where I was able to enjoy it even more through running. For the last training session of the day, I went with my husband to one of my favorite routes—wide avenues where you can see Lake Maracaibo—and I also felt safe there, with several areas to explore, such as parks.
.
Today, either the weather surprised me or my body has adjusted better to these temperatures, since the difference from when I first went out to train here was really noticeable compared to these days—now that I’ve been in this city for over a week. I felt comfortable; that suffocating feeling I used to get every time I went out was gone, and I enjoyed my workout more today—I didn’t feel as overwhelmed by the heat. In total, we ran 7 kilometers and 120 meters today, varying the pace a bit in the last few kilometers—and my legs responded well. Training in this kind of environment helps me avoid many injuries, since we need to expose our bodies to different types of weather. I usually train in the mornings in my city because it’s cool, but I’ve realized that I should alternate with some afternoon workouts—or at midday when temperatures are higher—because that way I help my body adapt to the heat. I’m heading back to my city now. See you soon, friends.
