Random Movies From 2004

The Incredibles was like Lost in Space meets The Avengers. We got a $5 boot-leg DVD version of this movie the last day of 2004 in New York City and probably started watching it an hour before the end of that last day in New Jersey.

Garfield is a fun silly movie about a fat cat and his owner. I, Robot is an exciting Will Smith movie. One movie I would totally recommend from 2004 would be Team America: World Police.

Random Movies

Here is a list of some random movies I saw that year. I may have seen some of movies that year or after that. I may have seen older movies (from previous years) that year as well. I may have seen some of these films in theater or elsewhere. This list may not be complete or entirely accurate. Most of the dates on this list are of when these movies premiered in U.S. theaters. I may not always know exactly when I saw some of these movies.

Along Came Polly

2004-01-16 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Don't know when I saw this movie but I do remember at least from the trailers the part where the shirtless man and all of his sweat rubs against the face of Ben Stiller in slow motion. I'm not sure if I realized the girl was played by Jennifer Aniston who was made famous for playing Rachel in Friends in the 1990s.

The Butterfly Effect

2004-01-23 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I remember watching this with Amber the summer of 2008 near Camp Kuratli where we were working one weekend in June or July. Well, maybe as late as August. I think her name was Amber. I think she was from another state closer to the east coast of the USA. That was the first time I saw the movie. This is a crazy Ashton Kutcher movie which deals with Time-Travel which is a cool thing in some ways.

The Lion King 1½

2004-02-10 - Tuesday - direct to video release

I probably saw this at Andrew Moroz's house in November or December of 2004 or 2005. I forget now which year I was there. It was an ok movie but not very exciting.

50 First Dates

2004-02-13 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I probably first saw this movie before 2009. It is a stimulating Adam Sandler romance movie I treasure similar to A Walk to Remember starring Mandy Moore. I think I remember seeing this with my favorite youth group at that time, HCBC, I think before June of 2004. We saw a few movies during my senior year in high school, 2003-2004. We saw probably this movie and probably a few other movies like Meet The Parents which came out in 2000 starring Ben Stiller. I think we saw that at Kevin Morse's house or something in 2004. I can't think of other movies we might have saw in 2004 from the top of my head but at least two come to my mind right now.

The Passion of the Christ

2004-02-25 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I watched this Jesus movie at Dave Kelly's place in January of 2005 right before the beginning of the winter term at WOLBI NY, my first college. I was not compelled enough to see it in theaters in February of 2004 or was just too busy with my senior year in high school. I was partly not thinking too much about it. I saw trailers for it. I heard about it. I kind of thought it was scary and also pointless as I already know that story. But when I did see the movie in 2005, it was emotionally full. I felt the passion of Christ.

Secret Window

2004-03-12 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I think I saw this Johnny Depp movie at Camp Kuratli the summer of 2007 and 2008 or at least saw it before 2009 and maybe even before 2007. But most likely at Kuratli. I found it to be captivating and I was curious when watching it.

2004-03-19 - Friday - Taking Lives - Angelina Jolie

2004-04-02 - Friday - Hell Boy

2004-04-09 - Friday - The Girl Next Door

2004-04-09 - Friday - Ella Enchanted | 123 Series

Kill Bill: Volume 2

2004-04-16 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I eventually saw it like years later. I like the series. It is interesting and exciting.

Troy

2004-05-14 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I saw this movie probably before 2008. It is interesting but not very exciting. But I like Brad Pitt and history and fighting in general.

The Day After Tomorrow

2004-05-28 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I might have seen bits and pieces of this movie later on or maybe the entire thing eventually. I sort of remember the trailers and was a little interested but I guess not enough to go see it.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

2004-06-04 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I've seen bits and pieces of this film and other Harry Potter films over the years. I think I saw this movie in a theater in Hawaii in 2007. I have memories of the part where Harry is saving the man in the forest by the water while face sucker ghosts are flying around. An elk or deer or some kind of animal was on the other side of the pond or lake. I remember when they hopped onto a flying bird animal later on. I remember the flying around on the brooms. I remember the man who turned into a mouse or something. All of these memories are probably from 2007 and not before that assuming I didn't see it in theaters in 2004 and I don't think I did. When I did see it in 2007, I was partly on the edge of my seat at times, a little scared, excited, curious.

Garfield: The Movie

2004-06-11 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Maybe I saw this in theaters before going off to college. Graduated from high school on Tuesday the 8th day of June of 2004. On Sunday the 13th, I talked to people at my church about working at a camp at what would be my first college in the fall. During the summer, it's a camp. I flew in an airplane probably on Wednesday, the 16th day of that month. I remember it being something like Wednesday. I remember it being mid June. Camp usually would start the last week of June and staff orientation and prep would usually last a week or two. Camp would start on Mondays. So, first day of camp was most likely on the 28th. Maybe as early as the 21st but I kind of doubt that. So, I was running off to camp in the middle of June. So, I don't know when I saw Garfeld but I kind of remember seeing it in theaters. But my memories are very distant and brief at this point or for the moment. I like that fat cat named Garfeld growing up watching the cartoons on TV in the 1990s or reading the comics as well in the newspapers. But this first live action movie was not too exciting.

Napoleon Dynamite

2004-06-11 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I eventually saw this probably before 2009 and I like the characters. Fun movie. I like Napolean.

The Terminal

2004-06-18 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I think I saw this movie at somebody's house during a CMT trip around 2004 to 2006. In other words, during my first college at WOLBI in New York. We did ministry, the Children Ministry Team (CMT). We would sometimes do couch surfing or something like that. So, I saw iRobot one time and a few other movies. I think this was one of them. I like Tom Hanks and was captivated by the story. I don't remember seeing it in theaters.

The Notebook

2004-06-25 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I saw years later on and thought it was an interesting love romance story.

Spider-Man 2

2004-06-30 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I probably saw it years later. I've at least seen bits and pieces of it. I like Spider Man. Big fan of Tobey Maguire who plays the spider dude.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

2021-07-09 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Probably first saw this movie before 2011. It is a fun Will Ferrell movie that I found interesting.

I, Robot

2004-07-16 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I saw this movie at somebody's house while out doing CMT in 2004 or 2005. Very interesting Will Smith movie which I found interesting because of the robots and the interaction with the ugly duck robot.

2004-07-23 - Friday - Catwoman - Halle Berry

Team America: World Police

2004-10-15 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

This is a funny action comedy film featuring puppets. The voices impersonates famous celebrities like Matt Damon. I didn't see this movie until many years later. But it's a classic.

Saw

2004-10-29 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I didn't see this in theater but did see Saw 4 in theaters. It premiered in theaters in 2007 and I either saw it then or possibly later on in 2008 in theaters. I found that to movie to be scary and interesting. Not my cup of tea. I was curious in the same kind of way I find Criminal Minds interesting. I remember the hair being pulled off the head of one lady in Saw 4. I can't remember if I've seen other Saw movies or which ones but I think I kind saw bits and pieces of a few others or at least one other. I don't recommend Saw to people. I understand the appeal. I am curious and it might be educational to an extent. But also disturbing more so than Dexter Morgan which I enjoy watching.

2004-11-05 - Friday - The Incredibles

The Polar Express

2004-11-10 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Seed of Chucky

2004-11-11 - Thursday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I didn't see it in theaters but have seen bits and pieces of this movie over the years or a few trailers or clips. I first saw Child's Play via my brother who watched it in the 1990s at home. He would watch scary movies like that franchise and especially Friday the 13th. So, I started watching the Chucky movies probably in the early 1990s at the earliest. I'm think probably after 1994 for the first time. I saw that Chucky gets or had a wife and that was the movie before Seed of Chucky. So, I kind of saw that. So, perhaps I never really saw anything regarding this movie for many years or maybe even to this day outside of a few seconds of the movie. But I do find it interesting as it ties into the new television series called Chucky which premiered in 2021.

I eventually saw this animated Tom Hanks movie about people going to Santa for Christmas. I probably saw it years later and probably before 2009. It is interesting and a little exciting.

National Treasure

2004-11-19 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

First saw this at a friend's house in West Virginia in 2006 or 2007. It's a fun Nicholas Cage and Jon Voight thriller chase movie. I love mysteries and history.

The Last Samurai

2004-12-01 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

This Tom Cruz movie is interesting, it has action, sword fighting. I saw this with Chris Zuagg and others in December of 2004 or January of 2005 (I think). It was during Christmas break back when I was attending my first college, WOLBI in New York. We either saw this movie before or after visiting New York City (NYC) for the 2005 New Years countdown. So, we might have saw it around Thanksgiving or I don't remember the exact day. We were working in the kitchen at the school in food prep, dishwashing, things like that. After work one day, we saw it like in Chris' car via laptop or in the kitchen office. Probably in the car. We might have seen it during the summer of 2004 at the earliest. I went to that college that summer to work at their camp which is held on campus. So, it could have been then in the summer or later on that fall. And I imagine not after that. This movie premiered on Friday, the 5th of December of 2003. I mentioned this in my random movies from 2003 post. 2003-12-05 - Friday. But I didn't see it until 2004 or early in January of 2005 at the latest.

Ocean's Twelve

2021-12-10 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I eventually saw this but probably not in theaters. I might have seen bits and pieces of it at an airport or on the plane in 2005 or 2006. But not sure exactly. But I love the actors and how they work together to steal all of that money and everything at the casino. I love that it was an all-star cast.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

2004-12-17 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I probably saw this Jim Carrey movie in theaters in December of 2004 around the time it premiered, that would have been during my college Christmas break.I do remember watching this movie. It was interesting but also sad kind of. So, I probably watched it in Oregon.

The Phantom of the Opera

2004-12-22 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I probably first saw this movie before 2009 and it was amazing, the man in the mask, the woman, and the singing. Well, the idea of having a lake under the theater is cool too and full of mystery.

2004-12-24 - Meet The Fockers - Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro

Kung Fu Hustle

2004-12-23 - Thursday - Hong Kong theatrical premiere

I eventually saw this somewhere before like 2010. Don't remember which year or where but it was a fun kung fu movie to watch.

The Incredibles

2004-12-31 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I saw it at Joy's house with Chris Zuagg and others either on the last day of 2004 which was Friday the 31st of December and/or Saturday, the first day of January of 2005. We went to New York City for the ball drop to bring in the new year and most likely it was Chris who bought the boot-leg version of the movie on DVD for $5 from a random person on the side of the street. We were at Joy's house in New Jersey some minutes before midnight. So, we might have started watching it before the start of the new year. It was a fun cartoon with comedy and they are a super hero family. I found it to be fun to watch with my friends. This movie premiered at 2004-11-05 - Friday, that is in November of 2004 in America.

U.S. Theatrical Premiere

The dates I've provided here for U.S. theater premieres are from Wikipedia. I've listed these dates to help me know a general ballpark as to when I might have seen some of these movies in the big screen. Movies would play in the cinema for three months or less, generally speaking. A lot of movies stay in theaters for no more than a month. Many of the movies would come out on VHS video or DVD within a year after their theatrical release. Some of them come out on video within as little as three to six months sometimes. Some movies are released direct to video and are not shown in theaters.

Random

I included random movies, some which I may have seen and some which I may not have seen that year or any year to date. Not every movie may be listed. I may have watched older movies from previous years during this year as well. This is basically a rough draft outline of a few movies from this year. I've included notes to reminded myself of when I may have seen some of these films. So, some of these movies I may have seen not that year but in following years after that.
