I managed to get some gas for our grill yesterday morning so we have enjoyed a few al fresco meals.
We're a household of 4 and meals can be a challenge as my wife and eldest daughter are very fussy with their food, whilst younger daughter and I will eat most things.
The menu for the wife, elder daughter and dog was:
- Burgers
- Sausages
- Chinese chicken legs
... and for younger daughter and I
- Prawns (more were added later)
- Sea bream
- Mushroom
I also charred some spring onions from our local farm shop and they were jolly delicious.
I've also been baking again but this time tried a French loaf. I guess this would usually be made in the form of a French stick but I made it in the bread machine. It was very nice though.
The ingredients were very much the same as the standard white loaf I made earlier in the week but it came out very differently. Far more of a crust and a much nicer texture on the inside. Having a poke through the manual this very much seems to be down to the pattern of kneading the dough and a slightly longer cooking time. I thought that to be quite interesting so will have a little delve into why another day.
