Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you?
It’s been raining for the past couple of days. Finally! The temperature has dropped a few degrees, and it’s easier to breathe outside. But I don’t feel like summer is ending. I hope this lasts for a while.
Nothing special is happening, and that’s perfect for me. Weather-induced boredom that brings nothing and takes nothing away.

Krombacher Pils

Well, that one out of every ten Pilsners in Germany is a Krombacher—hmmm, I find that hard to believe. But maybe it's true.

The beer is clear, light golden, with an average head. It has a subtle malt aroma. It goes down smoothly; on the palate, I first taste the slight sweetness of the malt, which gives way to a pleasant bitterness from the hops, herbs, and grass.
A solid bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.

A refreshing, easy-drinking beer!
A very well-balanced malt flavor with a pleasant, not overly bitter hop note that comes through at the end. A classic German pilsner—it doesn’t stand out in any particular way, though it’s perhaps a bit more refined than rough-edged. Very solid for everyday drinking. It’s available at the E.Leclerc store for €1.10.

Let’s move on to something completely different.

BrewDog Elvis Juice Citrus IPA

Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 6.5%, IBU 40. IPA-style beer.

What do the Master Brewers say?

An American IPA with a bitter edge that will push your citrus tolerance to the brink and back; Elvis Juice is loaded with tart pithy grapefruit peel. This IPA has a caramel malt base, supporting a full frontal citrus overload - grapefruit peel piled on top of intense U.S. aroma hops. Waves of crashing pine, orange and grapefruit round out this citrus infused IPA. Malts: Pale, Caramalt, Hops: Loral, Chinook, Simcoe.

I have to admit that I drank it years ago, and I thought it was great back then. And when I saw it in the store, I thought to myself, “Why not give it another try to see if it’s still as good as it used to be?”

The beer is a clear, light amber color with a generous, creamy head. It has a citrusy aroma. It goes down smoothly, and on the palate I first detect the bitterness and slight sweetness of grapefruit, followed by orange, and finally hints of caramel.
The bitterness of the hops and grapefruit lingers in the aftertaste.

A very drinkable, juicy, and flavorful beer!
Although, to be honest, the bitterness isn’t as pronounced as it usually is with IPA beers. It’s more of a fruity IPA or a Hazy NEIPA with citrus flavors. Very drinkable and a real aromatic explosion. If you like pronounced citrus flavors, this one’s for you; if not, you’ll probably go for something else. It’s not available in local stores, but I found it at the E.Leclerc shopping center for €2.20. I’ll pick up a few more when I can.
