MASSIVE ATTACK - PRODIGY Karmastarter (DoM mashup)
Today I’m going to start with a mash-up that’s been ringing in my ears all week. Two huge hits combined into one mix of sounds, rhythms, and melodies. The song mashes up “Karmacoma” by Massive Attack and “Firestarter” by The Prodigy. A dark, hypnotic beat meets Prodigy’s explosive, raw rhythm. Why didn’t this happen sooner?
By the way, DoM is a French mashup artist.

Gilla Band - Alogia
Gilla Band is an Irish band from Dublin. They have been active since 2011; they were originally called Girl Band and changed their name in 2021. They have released several EPs and three albums. Their music is a raw, distorted, electronically processed blend of noise rock and punk, featuring surreal, often dark, and personally charged lyrics.
The song “Alogia” is a single from their new fourth album, Pugnello, set for release in late September. The word “Alogia” refers to speech impairment associated with mental disorders. The singer who wrote the lyrics was diagnosed with schizophrenia around that time. I find them interesting, and I hope the singer can somehow overcome this terrible disorder.

Social Distortion - Walk Away (Don't Look Back)
Social Distortion is an American band from Fullerton, California. They are veterans of the punk and hardcore scenes, having formed in 1978. They have released eight studio albums. They still play punk rock with strong influences from country, blues, and rockabilly.
The song “Walk Away (Don’t Look Back)” is from their latest album, Born to Kill, which was released in May of this year. The sound is more rock-oriented than pure punk; connoisseurs say it’s similar to early AC/DC. I’d say it could be a real hit—an excellent guitar riff and lyrics that deal with personal realization: stop playing games, life is short, don’t waste time, don’t look back. A punk anthem.

Yello - Break Out
Yello aren’t giving up just yet. This Swiss electronic duo from Zurich has been active since 1979 and has released 14 studio albums in the electro-pop and synth-pop genres. They are versatile artists—one is a film director and industrial artist, while the other is a sound architect who composes music from samples and rhythms.
The song “Break Out” is a single from their upcoming album Time Lab and was released in late August. It’s a synth-pop and new wave song with plenty of sampling, unusual sounds, funk, danceable rhythms, and humor.

The Melting Minds - In A Land
The Melting Minds are an Indonesian rock band from Wonosari, Gunungkidul. They were new to me; when I first heard them, I thought they were AI-generated King Gizzard-style because they use microtonal guitars. But I was wrong. Since 2020, they’ve been playing psychedelic rock—and yes, with a strong influence from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, as well as Javanese mythology and folklore. So far, they’ve released a few singles and one album.
Their new single, “In A Land,” was released this past February. It’s powerful guitar rock with an extraordinary melody that speaks of a lost sacred land and a sense of responsibility. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them.

MUSA DAGH - Fragments
Musa Dagh is a German band from Frankfurt. They’ve been playing since 2021 and have released three studio albums. This is a new name for me. Alternative noise rock, post-punk, distorted with heavy guitars, melody, and dynamics.
The song “Fragments” is from their latest album, Endurance, which was released just today. It’s a raw, unfiltered, and direct rock track featuring dual vocals—one female, one male—and a slightly dark atmosphere.

Cam Cole - Get Up Ya Honky Tonk
Cam Cole is a British one-man band from London; I mentioned him in #newtunes recently when I first heard him. He started out as a street musician (busker) in Camden Town in 2018 and has released three studio albums to date. He’s constantly on the road, living in a van—a true new-age traveler.
The song “Get Up Ya Honky Tonk” is the single from his fourth studio album, Lost In Creation, set for release in late October. Anyone who listens will hear a raw and loud mix of Delta blues, folk, grunge, stoner rock, and rock ’n’ roll—a rich blend of classics with a modern twist.

Chat Pile - Shrine (Official Music Video)
Chat Pile is an American quartet from Oklahoma City. They’ve been playing since 2019 and have released four albums. They describe their sound as noise rock; others often label them as sludge—well, it’s somewhere in between. Their sound is dense, distorted, and dark, with lyrics about breakdown, violence, Oklahoma, and a world falling apart.
The song “Shrine” is from their latest album, Who Loves the Sun, which was released a week ago. It features heavy, hypnotic riffs with a powerful rhythm, paired with dark, disoriented, and unsettling vocals.
