King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is a rock band from Melbourne, Australia, that started around 2010. They’re one of my favorite bands, and I’ve been following them since they began. They’re always trying out new genres and are famous for their energetic live shows. Their music covers everything from garage, psych, and surf rock to microtonal music, thrash metal, jazz, folk, synth, electronic, and more. They’ve also put out 28 albums so far.
The song “Alien Metal” comes from their newest album, which has the same name. Even though the title suggests metal, the band is now exploring techno, breakbeat hardcore, house, jungle, and similar styles, all with their usual psychedelic twist.

WEAVE is a British band from Sheffield. They’ve been playing since 2024. They haven’t released an album yet, but they’ve put out a few singles. To me, they’re a new name on the scene. They describe their sound as “shoepunk garbage noise”—raw, loud, and distorted, yet melodic and energetic.
The song “Closer” is their latest single, released a week ago. It’s loud, rhythmic, with powerful guitar riffs and intense vocals.

Opus Kink is a post-punk, jazz-punk, and art-punk band from Brighton, UK. They formed in 2017 and have been playing for almost a decade. Their music blends punk, jazz, funk, country, no-wave, and cabaret. The band calls their style “horn-fueled filth-funk.” They’ve put out several singles and released their first album in early July this year.
The song “Will It Come For You?” is a single from their debut album, The Sweet Goodbye. It’s a post-pop-punk track that features horns.

Ministry is an American rock band that has been performing since 1981. They have released 16 albums and have had a major influence on the industrial, alternative metal, and broader heavy music scenes.
The song “Burned Out” is the first single and official music video from their upcoming 17th album, Hate To Go (Take Out Or Delivery), which is set to be released in late October of this year.
It’s an industrial-metal track featuring characteristic heavy riffs, thumping rhythms, synths, and gang vocals. It expresses weariness with chaos, politicians, and parasites, while also calling for unity.

Cam Cole is a British one-man band from London. He’s a new name to me, even though he’s been performing as a busker on the streets of London since 2010. He has released three albums to date. His videos have gone viral on social media. He’s been called “the heaviest one-man band in the world”—with just one guitar and Footdrums, he creates the sound of an entire band, full of raw energy, distortion, and groove.
The song “Home” is from his latest album, released in 2023, and the lyric video was released a week ago. It’s an epic rock ballad about the search for one’s purpose, freedom, and a sense of “home” within oneself.

The Zac Schulze Gang is a British trio from Gillingham, formed in 2020. I hadn’t heard of them before, so they were a pleasant surprise. Music critics see them as the future of rhythm and blues. Their sound is raw and energetic, mixing blues-rock and rock ’n’ roll with hints of punk, classic rock, soul, funk, and even some metal. People often compare them to Rory Gallagher and Dr. Feelgood. So far, they’ve put out one EP, a live album, and a studio album.
Their song “Hellhounds On My Trail” is a cover of a track by Tony Dowler and The Hellhounds, which was inspired by the Robert Johnson legend about the devil’s hounds.

The Animeros are a trio from Austin, Texas. The members have spent decades playing in other bands, and they came together as The Animeros in 2024. I hadn’t heard of them before. Their name comes from Colombian shamans, called animeros, who are believed to guide lost souls to peace. Their music mixes Latin American styles like cumbia, chicha, salsa, bolero, mambo, and cha-cha-cha with Tex-Mex psychedelia. Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys heard them from his rooftop, tracked them down, and quickly signed them to his label, Easy Eye Sound. They’ve released a few singles so far, and their debut album is coming out at the end of August.
Their song “Descarga Royal” is a single from the upcoming album ¡Qué Bárbaro!. It’s a lively, rhythmic track that shows off their psychedelic-cumbia style.

Finally, there’s Jesus Jones, a British band from Bradford-on-Avon that mixes alternative, indie, dance, and rock. They started in late 1988 and are known for blending rock with samples, techno, and dance music. So far, they’ve released six albums.
Their song “All Falls To Me” is a single from their upcoming seventh album, Twilight, which comes out in September. This track is a bit different from their usual style. It starts with a flamenco guitar and then moves in a more unexpected, atmospheric direction.
