Soup-based dishes are always a special treat at home when breaking the fast. Whether sipped with a spoon or stirred and enjoyed with rice, they’re a special treat to prepare.
Hi, foodie lovers! I’m so excited to invite you to prepare a home-style meal my way. Today, I’ll guide you through making one of my favorite fish dishes. As it happens, I grilled this fish yesterday—and I had an extra one. So I saved it, planning to make a soup dish like this. This dish is simple, but trust me, it’s incredibly delicious and can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.
This fish soup recipe comes from my mother; it’s her favorite soup. She uses fresh star fruit for the sour flavor—simple, yet it’s the kind of dish that makes everyone at home eat plenty of rice.
1 skipjack tuna
5 bird’s eye chilies
3 star fruits
2 shallots
3 kaffir lime leaves
4 tamarind pods
½ teaspoon salt
Bring water to a boil, then add the star fruits, chopped shallots, and kaffir lime leaves.
Coarsely grind the bird’s eye chilies, salt, and tamarind pods with a mortar and pestle. Boil and add to the pot.
Remove the star fruit, crush it, and return it to the pot.
Finally, add the pre-boiled mackerel, stir, and cook until it comes to a boil. Don’t forget to adjust the seasoning; once it tastes right, it’s ready to serve.
Tara, look at the result—it looks so appetizing, doesn’t it? This soup is perfect for anyone who’s feeling under the weather. In my opinion, it’s my go-to meal when I have a fever or a cold. Not only is it delicious on its own, but it’s also delicious when served with rice.
It has a savory flavor with a refreshingly tangy kick from the fresh beliming wuluh, which makes it even more delicious. In my opinion, this is a simple fish soup, but it can be a go-to dish anytime with this simple recipe.
