Grilled fish with special spices is a delicious dinner option you can try at home. The combination of spices and the abundance of grilling spices make this dish a family favorite.

Yesterday, my husband bought rambeu (fish kue) at the market. He bought two large fish, 1 kg. He wanted to grill them like they're served in a restaurant. This type of fish is delicious grilled with lots of spices, and I planned to make a special grilled fish dish for him.

Balinese-Style Grilled Fish with Coconut Husk

I usually make grilled fish with simple spices at home, but this time the grilled fish is different. The authentic Balinese spiced grilled fish combines the flavors of spices from easily found natural ingredients. This is a new choice for grilled fish; usually I rely on my own sedrhana grilled fish, a recipe I've often shared.

Balinese spices are rich in flavor, often with a sweet and spicy savory flavor, and it suits our palate perfectly at home. I'm sure everyone at home will love it.

What's unique here is that I grilled it using coconut husks. Using coconut husks would produce a lot of smoke. However, the coconut husks' flame is actually very good for cooking the fish evenly, making the meat more tender when eaten. This tip for grilling fish comes from my sister, who often does it this way, and the grilled fish tastes better.

Then add the fish to the grill and grill them until they are half-cooked. Don't forget to wear sunglasses, as the smoke is very smoky and can irritate your eyes.

Once the fish is half-cooked, season with the cooked spices. Cook until the spices are completely absorbed and the fish is cooked through.

Serve the grilled fish with the soy sauce and garlic chili sauce. But trust me, even without the chili sauce, the grilled fish is delicious. I love the savory, spicy, and sweet combination of the soy sauce, making this grilled fish so delicious. And you know the best way to enjoy grilled fish is with hot rice. It's so delicious that my husband could finish the whole fish by himself.

He said this grilled fish was much more delicious than the ones I've made before. The spiciness was just right, with no flaws. The fish meat is also very soft and really evenly cooked perfectly.
