Seaweed tofu is a combination of soy milk, soft eggs, and chopped spinach. This dish is commonly known as “seaweed tofu,” even though it doesn’t actually contain any seaweed; its incredibly soft texture pairs perfectly with the sprinkled spinach on top, creating a beautiful presentation.
So, food lovers, today I’d like to invite you to prepare one of my favorite tofu dishes. Seaweed tofu really does have a very soft texture; the delicious combination of soy milk and eggs gives this dish an extraordinary flavor. I really love making this dish because it’s just that delicious.
Usually, if I have shimeji or enoki mushrooms on hand, I’ll drizzle some mushroom sauce over the top. But since I’d have to go into town to get those mushrooms, I’ve decided to skip making the sauce this time. In my opinion, it’s already delicious served just like this—and besides, this dish is rich in vitamins, isn’t it?
Curious about the steps to make it? Let’s gather the ingredients and get everything ready here.
Ingredients
400 ml soy milk
2 large eggs
20 spinach leaves
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon bouillon
Cooking Procedure
Beat the eggs, mix in the salt and broth, and feel free to add ground pepper; then set them aside for now. Next, finely chop the spinach leaves until done.
Add the soy milk to the beaten eggs, stir until well combined, then strain into a bowl.
Place it in a heat-resistant dish—don’t forget to grease it with margarine. Sprinkle the chopped spinach on top.
Finally, steam until cooked through in a steamer; I steam it for about 15 minutes, then let it cool before cutting it.
Result
The result is absolutely beautiful and, of course, incredibly delicious—the smooth combination of soy milk and eggs is truly delightful. I highly recommend you try this seaweed tofu. It’s also perfect as a snack for your kids, and after steaming it, you can even grill it briefly with a little oil. Just imagine—this could become your go-to dish for dinner and even for family gatherings.
This can also be a healthy snack to complement your child’s breast milk—it’s even great for you while breastfeeding. Soy milk is packed with natural protein and contains no preservatives, and you can get all of these benefits from this tofu as well. And it’s sure to please your palate—if you’d like a spicy dish, feel free to add a little ground pepper.
