Cilok is a traditional snack that’s quite popular in Indonesia. It’s made from tapioca flour and enjoyed with spicy sauce. But this time, the cilok is different—it’s made with a blend of instant noodles, creating a unique, curly texture that makes it even more delicious.

Cilok kriwil offers an authentic cilok flavor, and the sauce combination is truly perfect. Plus, the cilok kriwil dough mixed with instant noodles brings a fresh twist to at-home snacks.
The process is quite simple; I think this is a practical way to make a snack that anyone can easily prepare. You’ll be curious to see the steps below.

Well, you know, you can serve these cilok warm with a dash of sambal sauce or just dip them in the sauce—I think they’ll make a delicious snack. Instant noodles are often associated with fast food, but trying this new idea definitely won’t leave you bored.

Ingredients

1 package of instant noodles
100 grams of tapioca flour
200 ml of hot water
1 carrot
½ teaspoon of salt
¼ teaspoon of mushroom bouillon
1 stalk of celery

Cooking Procedure

Prepare the vegan instant noodles, then boil them in boiling water until tender.

Transfer the noodles to a fairly large bowl, then add both types of flour and stir until evenly mixed.

Next, add salt and mushroom broth, then slowly stir in the celery and hot water.

Make sure the batter isn’t too runny. Once the batter is ready, take one teaspoon of it and drop it into the boiling water.

Repeat until all the batter is used up, then boil briefly until the noodles are fully cooked. For the sauce, I simply combine chili sauce, tomato sauce, and mayonnaise.

Serve the cilok with sambal sauce, then dip it in the sauce—or you can mix it right in if you’re going to eat the cilok right away. Since cilok is best enjoyed while it’s still warm, I usually steam it again just before serving.

The cilok has a chewy texture, and the flavors of the noodles and tapioca starch blend perfectly—the sambal dipping sauce makes it even more delicious. Spicy and savory—uhh, this is truly super delicious when enjoyed while still warm and definitely worth a try.
