Being born a non-vegan, it's something I never thought I'd be here for. I love anything plant-based, turning it into a meal certainly makes things more interesting in the kitchen. Time flies, and now it's time for another celebration cake for the community.
Before that I would like to say a special greeting here with this simple cake offering. Happy birthday to the 4th year of the @plantpoweronhive community, may the community grow and grow to be better in the future.
I am very grateful to this community especially to @sirenahippie who always works and serves this community sincerely, you are amazing to get to this stage. And also thanks to all the sponsors of the 4th birthday cake challenge.
Specifically yesterday, I bought the things I needed to make this cake. I didn't need much, the fla layer and topping were the main things I had to buy while the other ingredients I already had in stock at home. @sunshine invited me yesterday, and I hope she will also participate in this year's celebration.
This cake that I want to make, is a cake that I have never tried before, but it is a vegan recipe and this cake has a soft texture.
Steamed Mung Bean Cake
Steamed mung bean cake is a cake that combines mung beans with rice flour. This recipe is soft and denser than sponge cake, but overall very tasty. Now the addition of fla on top is my idea, to make the cake more interesting and certainly looks more crowded to be used as a birthday celebration. Now in the original recipe there is absolutely no addition of fla, just enjoy it directly, it's very good, here are the preparation steps!.
Ingredients Green bean cake recipe
150 grams peeled green beans
100 grams rice flour
30 grams cornstarch
100 grams granulated sugar
150 ml thick coconut milk
50 grams cooking oil
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon pandan paste
¼ salt
Making Procedure
I soaked the green beans for about 2 hours, then steamed them until cooked for about 30 minutes.
After steaming, I blended the green beans to cool for a while. by adding coconut milk and sugar in the blender. Then enter green bean blender with third ingredients to smooth.
Then add the pandan paste when blending so that it is mixed. evenly, then lastly add oil frying oil.
In another container I sift flour, cornstarch, soda and baking powder.
Then add the green bean mixture that has been made, stirring both until smooth and there is no jaggedness.
Add to the pan and steam for about 45 minutes.
While waiting for the cake to bake I prepared the fla, well this fla itself is optional you can use whatever toppings you like. Please feel free to be creative here, now because this is a vegan dish I use a light fla made from coconut milk.
Fla ingredients
200 ml fresh thick coconut milk
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon sugar
Strawberries as topping
Make Fla and Add Toppings
Combine all ingredients except the strawberries for the topping, then place in a saucepan. Cook until thickened, and let cool,
Now when the cake is cooked I remove it from the pan. I let it cool down and cut it into pieces like brownies. Then add the fla and give the topping to my heart's content. Now remember to add the fla after the cake has cooled so it doesn't melt.
Look at the attractive finish of this birthday cake, of course there is a small number 4 candle for this year's 4th birthday celebration. I bought them specially, I love to be creative and I thought it was a special day so I added a little decoration on top of the biscuit sticks and also a little sprinkle of my grated white chocolate bar. They look so adorable the beautiful little strawberries make the colors brighter.
The sweet and savory taste of the fla is perfect, it really is a special little celebration. My mom was so happy to see the little candles when they were lit. And at that time the neighbor was also curious, he came in and saw my celebration cake, he appreciated that green beans are quite delicious processed into a cake like this.
