Hello, how are you? We planned to eat boiled seafood a week ago, but they did not sell the seafood we needed at our market. But last Saturday we went to Lucao and did our grocery shopping, and there was a fresh seafood display in their fish and seafood aisle, and that sign was waiting for me to cook LOL.
It has been a while since I cooked a seafood boil, and I needed to search for a tutorial on how to do it, and it is still perfect as I remembered. But the problem is, the Cajun we used to buy changed their packaging and changed the ingredients, which disappointed me a lot because it used to smell so good and taste so good too. Now it's just a plain, not-so-fragrant type of Cajun LOL, but still delicious because it has butter in it.
Ingredients I Used:
Ingredients I Used:
- 1l hot water
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground pepper
- 3 sweet corn
- 13 marble potatoes
- half kilo shrimp
- half kilo squid
- 3 crabs
- 2 tbsp. cooking oil
- 8 red onion
- 1/2 cup water from boiled seafood
- 5 garlic bulb
- 200g butter salted
- 1 cup carbonated lemon lime drink
- 2 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp. hot sauce
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
- 5 tbsp. cajun seasoning
- 1 tbsp. oyster sauce
Let's Cook!
Let's Cook!
In a pan, I pour 1 litre of hot water and then season the water with a tablespoon of salt.
Add half a teaspoon of ground pepper to the water.
After seasoning the water, I am going to add the sweet corn and potatoes to the boiling water.
Then add the crabs.
Simmer it for about 10 minutes. Then set aside the crabs. But leave the potatoes and sweet corn because I am going to cook them last.
Then add the shrimp and boil it for about 1-2 minutes. Then set aside.
Then the squid boiled it for a minute. Set it aside.
Then I set aside the sweet corn.
For the final, it's the potatoes, and do a cut test first. If it's tender, go for it.
I set aside a 1/2 cup of water from the seafood I boiled. And in the same but cleaned pan, I added two tablespoons of cooking oil.
Then I added the red onion and then sautee them until the aroma come out.
Add all the butter in.
Then add the garlic and then sauté it for about a minute or until the aroma comes out.
Then I added 1 cup of lemon-lime carbonated drink and a half cup of water from the seafood I boiled earlier.
Then I added 1 tablespoon of salt.
Add a teaspoon of ground pepper.
Then add just a tablespoon of hot sauce, and if you don't want it hot, start adding it little by little. I learn after adding too much of it it is spicy AF. I think the spiciness from the Cajun is enough.
Add a tablespoon of brown sugar.
Then add the whole can of Cajun or 5 tablespoons of it.
For extra flavor, I added oyster sauce; I added about a tablespoon of it. Because they do not sell mussels in the grocery store, this will add flavor close to it. And cook it until the texture of the sauce turns thicker.
Before adding the seafood and veggies, turn off the stove first. Add the crabs and shrimp first.
Add the shrimp at the top.
Then the squid.
Last are the potatoes and the sweet corn.
Mix everything until every crevice of the seafood and veggies is coated.
This is what it looks like after mixing.
Close up look.
Happy eating! :D
