Yesterday I had the chance to go for a jog with an amazing group called Strongendurance, thanks to my brother-in-law who put me in touch with them. It was a very special experience because I also invited my wife to join us, and together we set out to run a 12-kilometer route through our city.
Although the area where we live is fairly flat, the heat was a real challenge throughout the run. We started off at a gentle pace to avoid tiring ourselves out too quickly. As we ran, the atmosphere was very pleasant; we took the opportunity to talk about our personal stories, where each of us was from, and how we’d gotten into running.
It was very enriching to share details about the training routines each of us followed and the different routes we usually ran in our respective neighborhoods. The conversation flowed naturally and helped keep us motivated.
One of the topics that caught my attention the most was when we talked about each other’s “pacers”—those people who set the pace for us and help us maintain consistency and reach our running goals. I realized how important it is to have that support—whether it’s a friend, a family member, or a group like this one—that pushes you to give your best effort without feeling alone.
At the end of those 12 kilometers, we not only experienced the physical satisfaction of the run but also the value of sharing moments, meeting new people, and strengthening bonds.
