New Tunes 11.10.2024

Hello, music lovers! 🎢

It's Friday, and a new dose of fresh tunes is here!
The weekly #newtunes selection of new music is upon us, and we're ready to listen to it for the weekend and beyond.
Well-known and lesser-known musicians are trying to spread their musical influence; only the content will tell us if they are successful.

As usual, eight tracks of different genres await your judgement and if you like something I'll be happy to share it with you.
But if you don't like something, you can skip.

Tremonti - The Mother, The Earth and I

Tremonti is an American band from Orlando, Florida performing since 2011. Frontman and guitarist Mark Tremonti is perhaps better known from Creed and Alter Bridge, with whom he also occasionally performs. Melodic heavy metal and guitar-dominated stoner is the genre in which they most express themselves. This is also true of their latest album, their sixth, The End Will Show Us How, which will be released in January 2025. The Mother, Earth, and I is the first single from this album, so they have already started the campaign.
Or is it just me who has noticed that there is more guitar music again lately?

The Smile - Colours Fly

Since Radiohead is on holiday, Thorn Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have been chiefly involved with The Smile for the last few years. As I mentioned, I have found them to be one of the best concert attractions lately.
Their third album (their second this year), Cutouts, was released last week and is quickly attracting attention across all streaming services. York and Co. will undoubtedly always have ideas, and rightly so. Recommended.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Cindy Lee - Dracula

I ask myself where I have been every time I discover something I have never heard of before. Although it has been around for a while, it's new for me.
That's precisely what happened to me with a Canadian band from Toronto's underground, the eccentric Cindy Lee. Hypnagogic dark pop with an intense dose of nostalgia for the good old days that will be no more oozes from every song they play.
They've released seven albums to date. The latest, Diamond Jubilee, is a self-released double album that is not available anywhere, not even in physical form. It only exists as a stream on YouTube, which already has over a million views. You can also download it for free in .wav, direct from the studio, here.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Mad Marge - Already Dead

Mad Marge is a band from California, USA, that has been performing since 2020 under Mad Marge and The Stonecutters or Mad Marge and Troublemakers. Well, now they're just Mad Marge, and two weeks ago, they released the single "Already Dead."
Otherwise, it's all in the genre of psychobilly, i.e., fast garage rock and roll. And since I last listened to it a while ago, I like it.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Dal:um - Cracking

Now, some more from South Korea, Seoul to be precise. You probably know the infamous K-pop, but this is entirely different.
Dal:um is a duo that experiments with traditional Korean instruments, such as the 25-string Gayageum and the 6-string with bamboo plectrum Geomungo.
The song "Cracking" is from their second album, Coexistence, which was released at the beginning of September. I suggest you listen to it because it all sounds good and fresh.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Tindersticks - Always a stranger

Tindersticks is an English alternative rock band that has been active since 1991. To date, they have released 14 albums, the latest of which, Soft Tissue, was released at the end of September this year. They have also been heavily involved in writing film music for French director Claire Denis.
The song "Always a Stranger" is from the new album. It's a melancholy, slow ballad about connection, longing, and alienation.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Memorials - Book Stall

Memorials is a new band, a duo from Canterbury, UK. It's a new name for me, and their first album, Memorial Waterslides, was released in the first week of October. Surreal pop combines classical and avant-garde approaches with a pastoral atmosphere.
A comprehensive sound spectrum of all the songs flooded with images evoking a lost future, a veiled present, and a dreamlike past.
Song Book Stall is about collectors and their collections.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Dream Theater - Night Terror

After four years, fans of the American progressive metal band Dream Theater have also found their reward. Parasomnia is their sixteenth album in a row and will be released in January 2025.
Technical perfection and perfect sound production are great ways to spread the word among fans.

🎢That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
