  • 2 artists starting with the letter Q:

1) Queen Ifrica

Style: Reggae
Country: Jamaica

Ventrice Morgan is the real name of this Reggae singer from Jamaica, who performs under the stage name of Queen Ifrica.

She has released 3 original albums between 2007 and 2019.

The themes of many of her songs are related to social consciousness and justice and she doesn't limit herself to singing about it... she backs up the words in her lyrics with actions by participating in various community activities. 😎

She has a strong, clean voice and her songs are beautiful and really good, with a lively traditional Reggae beat. It's a bit strange how her name is so little known outside of Jamaica.

Here are a part of the lyrics of the track Serve and Protect, which addresses the theme of police brutality...

Extreme tolerance a fi that we all learn
The people from the gully side, the Gaza strip, the lanes and the tavern
Woulda love fi see the day when every gun burn

Quite a strong message, eh? Here's the official videoclip for Serve and Protect:

2) Quique Neira

Style: Reggae
Country: Chile

Quique Neira comes from Chile and sings Reggae in the Spanish language, which is not very common. His full name is Enrique Neira Leiva.

He has a vast discography, counting with 2 albums as part of the Bambu band, 6 albums while he was playing with the band Gondwana... and another 8 full albums as a solo artist.

This is another artist who likes to talk about the problems of the society where he grew up, addressing themes such as the struggles of the students in Chile to improve the national educational system, as the following song exemplifies so well...

The song is called Un Poquito de Ti (A Little Bit of You) and features the Chilean group Movimiento Original, who play Hip Hop / Reggae.

I hope you have liked these 2 artists. 😁
