This surprised me, I liked the movie a lot. A 2024 psychological horror film directed by James Watkins.😃
Here we follow a family from America on holiday where they meet a British family. They are invited by them to a weekend at an idyllic country house where James McAvoy delivers a solid performance as the charming host. At first it seems great and like a dream holiday, but everywhere they experience a nightmare. Here politeness and the fear of offending are explored, here there are uncomfortable laughs with intense, violent moments. The film is good at engaging me and it keeps me on the seat and interested throughout, at least for me and it creates a constant feeling of unease. Mackenzie Davis also gives a strong performance as the American mother trying to protect her family and the film succeeds in building tension slowly which makes the shocking twists unpredictable. Long time since I have seen a good psychological horror film, this is recommended if you like the genre. For me this is a solid 8.
