Yesterday, we visited an island of USA, and tomorrow we head out to Mexico.
It is a good time to show another round of the Aztec series.
This time it is the
Aztec Hunab Ku Silver Round
The black-and-white yin-yang symbol is the most well-known illustration of the complementary nature of Yin and Yang. The fundamental idea behind the yin and yang has its origin to the ancient symbol and has been an integral part of Chinese thought since at least the third century BC, if not earlier. Yin and yang continue to hold significance for people worldwide.
This reverse side of the Aztec Silver Round depicts the Maya symbol, Hunab Ku.
The Hunab Ku, also known as "The One God," is depicted artistically on the obverse of the 1 oz silver Hunab Ku coin, which features both male and female deities embracing Earth. The representation embodies the Aztec notion of cosmic equilibrium and duality, which is the same as the yin and yang. On the other side is the classic Aztec representation of Hunab Ku, rendered in a contrasting and complimentary pattern that stands for the harmony and unity of the cosmos.
I'm glad to have a collection of rounds that combines unmatched workmanship with profound depictions of Aztec historical and cultural relevance.
