I have been liking the different Caribbean country coins (Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, St Kitts & Nevis, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Bermuda, Barbados), thanks to @maddogmike.
So when @fat-elvis showed his coin, I said I have got to have it!
Considering that the coin is vintage, I was lucky to get a good coin from the secondary market. It arrived several days ago.
First, the ping test!
1973 Barbados $10 Silver Proof Neptune
It is a handsome depiction of Neptune. The God of the Sea' right arm by his side and his hand resting on a mahi-mahi fish, and his left arm ts outstretched, carrying his trident.
Philip Nathan was the engraver of the coin. Between 1965 and 1968, he was an engraver and designer for the Royal Mint. He was employed at the Franklin Mint from 1968 until 1973.
The Coat of Arms of Barbados is shown in the obverse.

Barbadian law puts for the blazon of the coat of arms as follows:
- Arms: Or a bearded Fig Tree eradicated in chief two Red Pride of Barbados Flowers proper.
- Crest: On a Wreath Or and Gules A dexter Cubit Arm of a Barbadian erect proper the hand grasping two Sugar Canes in saltire proper.
- Supporters: On the sinister (left) side a Dolphinfish and on the dexter (right) side a Pelican proper.
Motto: “ Pride and Industry. ”
It is a beautiful coin!
