John Mercanti, the former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, and the Perth Mint started a new series together in 2014.
Over the past ten years, Perth Mint has seen yearly sellouts of the now-famous Australian Wedge Tail Eagle series. To commemorate its tenth anniversary, this coin was made.
2024 Australian Silver Wedge Tail Eagle 10th Anniversary Coin
John Mercanti creates a powerful design for his tenth anniversary. With its wide-open wings, the eagle is seen soaring straight overhead, slicing through the ski and shutting out the sun. Beyond the eagle's frame were the stylized points of the sun's rays.

The first-generation portrait of His Majesty King Charles III can be found on the obverse of the 2024 1 oz Silver Wedge Tail Eagles. Dan Thorne created this left-profile bust of Charles III for the Perth Mint, which features him without a crown on his head and dressed in a suit.

For those who may not know, John Mercanti designed the reverse of the first AMerican Silver Eagle.
On July 9, 1986, Mercanti received the opportunity to make a big name for himself in official US coinage. The Liberty Coin Act was signed by US President Ronald Reagan, authorizing the production of commemorative coins for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. At the same time, a new US bullion coin called the American Silver Eagle. This new coin was to be a 1 ounce, pure silver dollar depicting the walking liberty design that Adolph Weinman had created many years ago in 1916 for the Walking Liberty half Dollar. John Mercanti won an open competition for the coin design and was ultimately responsible for designing the reverse of the Silver Eagle. The reverse depicts a beautiful heraldic eagle holding arrows and an olive branch in each claw, with 13 stars above the eagle. The text "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER ~ ONE DOLLAR" appears along the rim. The national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" appears on a banner held in the eagle's beak.1
The 10TH ANNIVERSARY etching on the coin, which marks the series' lifeline from 2014 to 2024, is the most prominent feature. In addition, the P125 mint mark commemorates the establishment of Perth Mint 125 years ago, in 1899.
