I repeatedly fought Wandering Wight, learning to stagger him with heavy attacks, but ran out of mana and died. Frustrated after multiple deaths, I bypassed him through a tunnel to explore the Guanyin Temple. After surviving fire archers and weak wolves, I met the old man of the shrine.
With my goal clear, I ran back into the arena to confront the boss once more. Upon reaching the beast, I opened with a stun ability and dealt immediate damage before retreating toward a nearby tunnel.
However, because I pulled back too far into the passage, the boss completely reset and regained his full health bar.
While losing that progress was frustrating, the attempt taught me a crucial lesson: there was an alternate path through the tunnel that I could use to bypass this encounter entirely whenever I wanted to step away and get stronger.
Before taking that route, I decided to give the fight one more serious try. I engaged the boss again, noticing that whenever I landed a heavy attack, it briefly staggered him and left him reeling as if in pain.
Capitalizing on this opening, I began chaining heavy strikes together to keep him off-balance, slowly gaining the upper hand. Once my stun ability cooled down, I activated it to push my advantage further.
Everything was going according to plan until I attempted to cast the stun without realizing I had completely run out of mana. Deprived of the spell, I was caught completely off-guard mid-animation, allowing the boss to overpower and kill me instantly.
Respawning outside the forest at the shrine, I remained confident because I had cracked the boss's attack pattern. I carefully cleared the weak minions on the approach to preserve every bit of my health bar, then charged back into the boss arena.
This time, however, my heavy-attack strategy failed to lock him down properly. The beast countered relentlessly, giving me zero breathing room and beating me down in seconds.
Even after adjusting my timing on subsequent attempts, the boss killed me again and again until I finally ran out of patience.
Recognizing that sheer persistence wasn't enough, I abandoned the arena to take the side route, hoping to gather resources and upgrade my strength before facing him again.
Sprinting past the boss without swinging my weapon, I slipped into the tunnel completely unpursued. As I pushed deeper into the new area, I felt confident that the game intended for me to explore, level up, and return to these brutal bosses later.
Pathing through the unknown terrain, I fought off groups of smaller enemies and prioritized a fire-arrow archer who nearly drained my health from long range.
After cutting down another weak wolf that tried to intercept me, I arrived at the entrance of Guanyin Temple. Inside, the old man of the shrine warned me to stay quiet and advised me to turn back while I still could.
Ignoring the ominous warning for now, I approached the local shrine, offered incense to save my progress, and called it a day.
