Entering the arena to face the Rancor, I tested escaping to high ground before analyzing its heavy ground-thump attacks. Aggressive strikes without dodging led to a quick death, while a strategic retreat to a nearby meditation point mistakenly healed both Cal and the formidable beast, forcing multiple tactical restarts.
So this beast had a name, and it was Rancor. And the first thing I did after facing Rancor was I checked if I could escape its wrath. And yeah, I could just climb up there to get out of its reach, pulling myself up onto the high ledge to look down at the roaring monster below.
But I knew escaping this beast was not going to help, so I jumped into the arena and I waited to find its attack pattern till it thumped on the ground heavily that damaged me real good. The massive shockwave throwed me backward onto the dirt.
When the beast was waiting after taking its turn, I decided to attack it. And yeah, as you can see in the photo, I was trying to make sure he won't birth any baby, lol.
And I noticed I could actually damage the beast. I kept attacking it without dodging its attack much, which made me to die real fast. My overaggressive stance left me completely vulnerable to its high-damage swings.
I saved my progress in a meditation area close by, so I found the beast right at the restart, and this time I decided to get back to the meditation area to heal up after getting some damage. I just sprinted out of the pit to interact with the glowing circle.
But after getting back to the arena, I found out not just Cal got healed up, the beast also did. So yeah, it won't be any help if I get to the meditation point to heal up, realizing the environment reset entirely locked our progress.
I ran, I charged toward the beast, and I decided to unleash my wrath on it. But the game had other plans as the beast easily took me down again, catching my character in an unblockable grab animation before slamming him into the ground.
I ran toward the arena once again, and I found the beast thumped on the ground. And I could avoid the damage if I could do a perfect jump as the damage happens only when I was on the ground level and straight to the monster.
But then I lost half of my health again without doing much damage on the beast, so I went toward it to let it take me down so I'd get back with full health. And yeah, it did as I wished. Crushed my remaining health so I could start fresh from the checkpoint.
That's all for this session. More moments coming soon and thanks for checking it out.
