In awe of a new four weeks of blogging, I have adjusted the formatting slightly of these posts to make them easier on the eye.

Caking, Fruiting and Growth.

Fruiting:

Birthed cakes, ensuring the appropriate conditions are followed, will pin and grow within 1-2 days following the above conditions are met showcasing was method may work best for which particular grow, showing pins within hours often.

Maintaining humidity,

– measured with humidity and/or temperature monitor

-, the initial days of moisture should show no collection of dampness on the actual cake and should be indirect if misting necessary.

Generally, 90-95% is the accepted range of humidity and 21/22-24/25℃ maximum after the second day of birth.

See below, approximately 6 days poat birth:

This can be maintained through usage of a humidifier spaced 6 feet from walls and objects that may absorb moisture so as not to damage those, but so that moisture can enter utilizing fresh air flow to the shotgun fruiting chamber.

As so, this can be defined as simple fanning

– through usage of the top lid of the shotgun fruiting chamber

– of the interior tub, exchanging and ensuring fresh carbon dioxide is circulated throughout the micro-environment.

Developed mycelium may develop mushrooms faster than other portions of the cake. If this occurs, they may be cut when they have matured, and the veil is ready to burst. This will be explained further aside.

Growth:

While growing and harvesting a brown-rice flour cake via the outlined method, it will become evident that some mycelium, having a stronger potency often, grow much faster or in-vitro (prematurely) than others.

If this occurs during growth of a BRF cake, these may be carefully trimmed with, soaked in isopropyl alcohol, sharp taring scissors, so as not to impact or effect on any of the surrounding cake as much as possible.

As explained, the timeline to complete a growth ranges very greatly, dependent on potency of grain/print/dish/syringe etc.,

Being so, it is important to again, maintain sterile technique as the growth and purity of your mushrooms until a certain point is completely reliant on personal effort.

With a consistent eye for sterile technique and proper care for your cakes, the outcome of a flush is based upon the amount of effort put in!
