The Ghanaian Make-over

The driver kept trying to explain to her where we were till I felt a warm touch on my shoulder. In a split second, I turned around to see who it was and for like a minutes, I didn’t recognize my mom. She looked entirely different
“Mama” she called out softly with a little disappointment in her voice. She was a bit sad as she thought I wasn’t excited to see her.
I, on the other hand was trying to figure out who the stranger in front of me was, till I heard my mom’s familiar voice.

Adieu, Carter

"And Carter?" Sharon whispered.
Brent turned to shoot her colleague a withering glance. "Why are you whispering? He's in sleep mode until the next item on his schedule which is in," she paused and checked her wristwatch, "about two hours. Please speak freely."
"I don't know. Carter's been with us for so long and we've come to rely on him for everything. We call it 'him' for Pete's sake!" Sharon mused in a whisper.
Chang and Moreno chuckled.
"I mean it, guys. Do we have to replace him?"

Instrument of justice

"Who is this man to you?" He asked.
"John is like a brother. He is a philanthropist, a humanist and many more."
"Wow, where does he work?" He asked
"What's the problem? I don't understand these questions." I expressed my confusion.
"Where does he work?" He repeated the question.
"John is a clearing and forwarding agent."
"Wow, that's what he told you. No problem, let's go, we will be discussing the rest later."
I was in a state of confusion when I got a message on my phone from Fred requesting that we complete the remaining conversation on WhatsApp.
I opened my WhatsApp messenger immediately and met a bombshell.
"Your neighbor is a notorious armed robber."

Just My Luck

I flicked on the switch of my trusty flashlight and steadily made my way in the direction of the noise. As I turned the corner, fighting the tremor of fear that threatened to paralyze me, I gasped. The doorway painting. Creatures were leaping out of it. Flying things, dancing and having a merry time as they got seated at what looked like a dinner table. By golly, it was a full-blown party.
They didn’t seem to notice me yet and went right about chatting and feeling at home. I was quite sure that I had somehow slept and was now in a bizarre dream, so I decided to play along and make my presence known.
“Ahem.” I cleared my throat. The chattering and giggling continued so I cleared my throat and stomped my feet for good measure. A dozen beady eyes turned to me and I gasped, uncertain now that I had their attention. They began speaking at once.
“Who is this?”

A Letter By The Doorway

image.png

Source

After two weeks, a Saturday evening June 14th to be precise, I was home alone in my bed and in my feelings, tempted to reach out to Tammy, but I got myself distracted by seeing the latest movie on Netflix when I heard a knock on my door, "Who could that be?" I whispered because I knew I wasn't expecting anyone.
I stood up reluctantly and reached for my door, as I opened the door, there she was standing by the doorway, in amazement I uttered "Wooah, who do we have here?"
She kept mute for a couple of minutes and then she handed me a letter, "Take, read, you know where to find me if you need to," and then she left.
I opened the letter and this is what I found in it.

The great flight

image.png

The wheels screeched as they braked on the rails. Steam from the locomotive covered the air, like a dense fog, that gradually faded into the air, until a locomotive made of dead bones and rotting flesh could be seen.
Embedded in the middle of the torso of the door of one of the wagons, an undead addressed him "Either you come in or you stay", the door opened, releasing a blast of nauseating smell.
Immense terror gripped Neki, yet he still asked in a trembling voice, "Where is the train going?"
The undead, showing his one eye hanging out of the socket, turned to look at him. He smiled, revealing his three remaining teeth. "Welcome to the world of the dead."
"The world of the dead?" wondered Neki.
