Meetings, meetings everywhere, but not a thought to think
Well, that is not true, it is just that in the content in sessions I am facilitating this week, I don't need myself at all, so I am just kind of sitting here, making funny comments from time to time - value-adding behavior. :D
It is interesting though, as what has been the general consensus from the Subject Matter Experts, is that the small group I have coordinated for the last month, are awesome. They are engaged, active, funny - and a general pleasure in the sessions to train. There are only a few of them, but - this is a huge win. Wins all round... Yay!
I have really enjoyed these sessions and while I might not need to use the tools, it is giving me a very good understanding of the internal management processes, something that I haven't had to do at any point in my career so far. There are a lot of things that go into what might look simple at the surface for the customer and I am glad, I just get to make jokes and general insight comments.
It is funny though, as if someone was to watch my evening work around crypto, they would likely be overwhelmed by the amount of tabs, sites, systems and general complexity - and I do it with speed. From the outside looking in, I might look like an absolute crazy person. Yet, when I look at these guys go through some of these tools - I feel like I am even more mentally retarded than I am.
Is it okay if I refer to myself as retarded? I am of course.
Perhaps the "woke" will pull me up on it.
These sessions are strange in some respects though, as before I was the SME delivering to the audience and had to maintain engagement the entire session, whether it be an hour or 8 hours - it was very hard work. For this kind of session however, I am able to write this (slowly) at the same time and listen in with one ear ... for joke opportunities.
I am an Enablement Manager, so building an environment conducive to learning is vital for my role, but what I have found is that some people think this means being very structured and serious. Structure yes, serious no - rarely do people get the big picture when the atmosphere is too serious, because that lends it self to focusing in on details and worrying about them. These high level (in-depth but early engagement so not all-inclusive) sessions are best delivered with a lot of conversation and questions, not a lot of clicks. I wish I could do some of this on Hive, but my own content is not really suited to that.
Maybe in the future however, there will be more "live interaction" content, but not everyone is going to be suited to deliver it. Currently, there are a lot of AMAs out there for various communities, but they have their limitations also. Content delivery medium is hugely important and I feel that at the moment, we are underutilizing the potential Hive has in this regard, but, it is building and I think there will be more apps in the near future that will support a wider range of formats in ways that encourage and attract engagement.
For now though, I get to log off for the day and go and have IRL coffee with a friend who I haven't had the chance to meet for over a year - it'll be weird.
Let's see if I remember how to behave in public!
