Welcome to my #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. Tattoodjay has been afk for a bit living real life. Hopefully things are going well 馃憤
My walk was in Erie Bluffs State Park. https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/ErieBluffsStatePark/Pages/default.aspx
It is located a short ways off Interstate 90 near Erie, Pennsylvania about midway between Buffalo, New York and Cleveland, Ohio. We took a break from a road trip to stretch our legs.
The trails start out through some grasslands.
The undergrowth along the forest fringe had lots of "Phytolacca americana, also known as American pokeweed, pokeweed, poke sallet, dragonberries, and inkberry, is a poisonous, herbaceous perennial plant in the pokeweed family Phytolaccaceae." - wikipedia The stems to the berries are strikingly red and the berries turn purple when ripe.
Here are some ripe pokeweed berries or dragonberries.
I also found this tree with fruit I could not identify. I thought I would google image search it when I got home but that is going nowhere 馃檮
The trail was consistently well marked and maintained. Easy flat hike.
The trail eventually leads into the trees.
This odd little fungi looks like marshmallows 馃榿
Beautiful mature hardwood forest reaching for the beautiful blue sky.
The lake eventually began to appear through the trees.
Several good views of the lake. The lake and sky were peaceful shades of blue.
The trail leading back away from the lake.
Nice plump brown mushroom hiding in the shade behind a log.
There were also some ragged, old shelf mushroms on the rugged bark of a mature tree.
Every once and awhile you have to stop and appreciate nature 馃槏 thats what #wednesdaywalk is all about 馃憤
