Today marks the start of my fourth year on Steem! On the second of August 2016 I got my account active after @the-bitcoin-dood persuaded me to sign up. It was all a bit different back then and I think we could verify ourselves through Facebook or something. This was my first post that made a mighty 2c!
SteemWorld says I have made 2,210 posts, 30,973 comments and 82,206 votes. It also says I have made about 19,000 Steem, but I am not sure what the actual total is. I am getting back to that number now, but I have spent a lot. Steem paid for two trips to Steemfest, a guitar and ukulele plus various trinkets I bought from people here. I must have spent about £2000 in Steem earnings. At one point my account was worth almost $100k, but it is a lot less now. I wonder if Steem will ever reach those dizzy heights again.
The Steem experience is not just about the money. I have met so many people from around the world in person and on-line. I will tag a few of them here as my #FollowFriday suggestions.
I knew @the-bitcoin-dood from Tsu which had collapsed just before Steem (then it was just Steemit) started. Several other people also made the migration including
@uwelang,
@detlev,
@rebeccabe,
@elizacheng and
@papilloncharity.
I have met a lot of people at UK meet-ups organised by @redrica and
@lloyddavis. They include
@slobberchops,
@revisesociology,
@ultravioletmag,
@teodora,
@adetorrent,
@beautifulbullies,
@dougalporteous,
@ezzy,
@rea,
@nanzo-scoop,
@teamhumble and many others.
Then there is the amazing Steemfest put together by @roelandp and his team. I was in Lisbon and Krakow where I met so many cool people. There are just too many of those to list, but highlights included
@luzcypher,
@silviabeneforti,
@paolobeneforti,
@goodkarma,
@stoodkev,
@anyx,
@demotruk and
@ned himself.
There are lots of people I would still like to meet including comic artists @katharsisdrill,
@arseniclullaby,
@bryan-imhoff and
@northwestnomad.
There are the communities of @runningproject and
@steemflagrewards too. I hope we will see proper community features on Steem soon so we can find those who share our interests more easily.
I dread to think how many hours I have spent on Steem, but it has been worth it. There is nothing else quite like it out there and I still believe it has the potential to change the world.
Steem on!
