Description from Strava:
The forecast was for rain through much of today, but it was still dry as I jogged through the village. The photo was from the top of the bridge over the railway towards Henlow Bridge Lakes.
I may have been slightly earlier than usual as there were not many people at the start, but it soon filled out. As parkrun is such a simple event there is no real advantage in showing up early and so people will not rush. I saw another 100 event shirt there that featured a few countries. I wonder if I could ever get to that milestone.
I tried not to rush off too quickly at the start as I will just wear myself out. I aim for a fairly steady pace. I have managed around 5min/km on some shorter intervals, but I cannot maintain that for 5km. My hope is that by keeping up that training I will get a little quicker.
After the first lap we started getting a few drops of rain, but it did not get too bad. I could see one of the regulars ahead at times and tried not to let him get too far away. Not that I was going to catch him, but it gave me something to aim for.
I came in just under 27 minutes again. I have run almost exactly the same a couple of times in the last month. I have hopes I can improve on that. In Strava I can see that I kept a fairly steady pace today, so that is good too.
It was starting to rain harder so I just headed home for a shower and coffee. I was feeling drained, but I still think it is a good way to start the weekend. There were about 200 people there who seemed to agree.
Run free and enjoy your weekend.
