Today was the day of the #Arlesey fete. This is a community event where local organisations can have a stall to raise money and then there are activities for kids and some food stalls. I did not manage to take many pictures and my phone is playing up as some I took are not showing up. My jazz group played some songs early on, but I do not have pictures of that yet.

There was also a dog show, but we only have a cat (and chickens of course) and a display of birds of prey that included a bald eagle. You do not get to see them very often over here, but we have our big buzzards and red kites.

What I did get pictures of were some cars that proud owners had brought along to show off.

There was a nice selection of classic British cars from Triumph, Rover, Riley and Austin. I remember seeing a lot of the Rovers around when I was young, but there cannot be many left on the roads now.

You can see it was overcast, but it was not too cold and it has not rained today. There were several modern XK8 Jaguars that I thought I had pictures of, but cannot find them. One was supercharged and the owner said it had over 500HP. I am sure that can be fun, but it does not seem a practical car for me. I am not a petrolhead.

Other impractical cars were these American classics. They were no built for our narrow and twisty British roads. The hood ornament on this Cadillac seems designed to impale pedestrians. You can see some big classics in the background. I think those get used for weddings.

Representing Germany was this lovely Beetle that I see around here a lot as the owner is local. You may just be able to see a Mini reflected in his hubcap.

Not cars, but with similarly devoted owners are these steam (not Steem) engines. There are quite a few around this area as there are some big shows for them locally.

Steam

It makes for a nice family day out when the weather is okay. There was supposed to be a flypast by a WW2 Lancaster bomber, but it seems it was too windy for it to take off.

UPDATE: There is now video of our performance.
