Hello, music lovers! 🎶
Yeah, it's Friday, time for #newtunes!
Today we have HENGE, Primal Scream, Steven Wilson, CZART, Spanish Horses, Couch Dog, Dead Air, Surprise Chef.
This isn’t a music chart of hits, but a collection of new music by well-known and lesser-known artists that’s been stuck in my head since last week.
Maybe one of them will become a global hit?
The only way to find out is to jump in and listen. If a song catches your attention, follow that spark and see where it leads.
If a song doesn’t speak to you, move on to the next musical adventure.

HENGE - Brains
HENGE is a British band from Manchester that has been playing since 2015. They describe themselves as “extra-terrestrial joymongers” and call their unique style “Cosmic Dross,” a mix of rave, progressive, and space rock with electronic music. To date, they have released four studio albums; their shows are highly entertaining and theatrical, and they wear masks on stage.
The song “Brains” is the first single from their upcoming fifth album, Humans, set for release in January, and it's an ode to the human brain.
🎵 🎧 🎵
Primal Scream - City
Primal Scream is a Scottish band from Glasgow that has been on the music scene since 1982 and has released 12 studio albums. They are known for evolving their sound and styles, from psychedelic pop to dance-electronic and now retro rock.
The song “City” is actually from 2002, but it was remastered this August as part of The Bunker Trilogy project. It still sounds fresh and modern (or perhaps even more so).

Steven Wilson - A Basket of Bees (The Village Hall Sessions)
Steven Wilson, an English multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and vocalist best known as the frontman of the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, has announced his ninth solo album, Requiem For A Village, set for release in November, with the song “A Basket of Bees.” It’s a pastoral, slightly folk-inspired track that evolves into a full spectrum of rock sounds. It’s superbly produced and, of course, features top-notch session musicians.
🎵 🎧 🎵
CZART - Love Incantation
CZART is a Polish experimental/avant-garde metal band from Suwałki. The four seasoned musicians met in 2024 while reading Julian Tuwim’s book on Polish witchcraft and demons. To date, they have released one studio album.
Their new single, “Love Incantation,” previews their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album. It’s a sci-fi adventure with humor and a positive message. The band blends progressive metal with folk, horror, and sci-fi elements, and they’ve also used AI tools to produce both the music and the video.
🎵 🎧 🎵
Spanish Horses - City I Believe
Spanish Horses is an indie rock band that formed in 2023 in Paris and moved to London in 2025. They have not yet recorded a full-length album. Their sound is indie rock with elements of Americana, slacker rock, art rock, and psychedelia. Their influences stem from the 1970s New York scene (Velvet Underground, Television, The Modern Lovers).
The song “City I Believe” is from their EP Small Notions. They’re new to me, too—their harmonica use drew me in.
🎵 🎧 🎵
Couch Dog - Rod Sterling (Official Music Video)
Couch Dog is an American band from California, active since 2019. So far, they’ve released a few EPs and one studio album. To me, they’re a new name. They play indie rock with elements of garage and surf rock, plus post-punk.
They released their new single, “Rod Sterling,” a week ago. It starts as restless garage rock and transitions into a hypnotic post-punk groove.
🎵 🎧 🎵
Dead Air - Fallout Flex (Official Music Video)
Dead Air is an English trio from London. They’ve been playing since 2019. To me, they’re a new act. So far, they’ve recorded a few singles and EPs. They blend elements of post-punk, hip-hop, and aggressive rock. Their sound is direct, sharp, and raw.
Their new single, “Fallout Flex,” dropped a month ago and features sharp, distorted guitar and pounding drums. The lyrics are political—about rulers, oil, and drones. To me, they sound like Rage Against the Machine.
🎵 🎧 🎵
Surprise Chef – Leg Day
Surprise Chef is an Australian instrumental band from Coburg. They’ve been playing together since 2017 and have released five studio albums. They play instrumental jazz-funk—or cinematic soul—blending 1970s film scores, breakbeat, hip-hop, and library music. Their sound is atmospheric and often sounds like the soundtrack to a movie that doesn’t exist.
“Leg Day” is a single from their latest album, Frogs In A Pond, released a week ago. It highlights their signature rhythm and funk vibe.

🎶 That should be all for today. Thanks for your attention, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
One more thing: If you follow me, you may have noticed I’ve started using the service Scrobble.life/Music by @acidyo quite a bit. The service is still under development, but it’s fully integrated with the Hive blockchain—maybe I’ll create my annual playlist there, instead of on Spotify. Just being able to listen to the entire song is a huge advantage. :)
