Been a while! After roughly a full year injury free, I had fallen to the ground on two seperate occations within two weeks - one time diving for the ground from my bike in order to prevent a crash against a car and last sunday I slipt and fell down the stairs in a parking garage. While my right leg is now covered with blue and green bruises I found myself lucky that no deeper tissue was damaged.
Time to start training again!
I got my ticket for the september Jungfrau Alpes marathon. Which honestly is a dream coming true, I love running but am also a family man. Choosing to make this trip without my wife and kids is basicly just as big a milestone as the run will be.
Here in the Netherlands the land is pretty flat, so while my body is used to high weekly volume, I am not used to climbing. Therefore in order to prepare for the race, I decided to go to an artificial ski hill to start building my base.
Today I went for 10 climbs on the slower incline as a start to gradually increase both the steepness aswell as the total climb.
Sofar it went pretty well, decided to work without breaks (except for one mini stop after rep 6 to take off my shirt as it became pretty hot both in temperature aswell in intensity). Fun , challenging session!
Happy running!
