When I saw this donut on the menu, I got really excited. I have seen this donut before. They did one either last year or the year before that looked exactly like this and it was filled with gingerbread spice kreme from memory. All I know it was delicious. I was hoping this was going to be the same. Then I saw the description... it wasn't. Basically it's a Chocolate Custard repackaged. Yeah it looks nice and yeah, it was as good as a Chocolate Custard has always been with that silky smooth custard filling and fluffy donut, but it just wasn't anywhere near Christmassy apart from the look.
In the end the donut was delicious and I do like a Chocolate Custard, but really... I think Krispy Kreme could have pulled something else out of the bag to make this donut as exciting as the one I had in the previous year or so. There's only one more donut to go... Will it be Ho Ho Ho or Bah Humbug?
