Good evening, blog friends—how are you all doing? Here we are again for our Wednesday walk. I decided to take it today because a weather alert has been issued for the entire region tomorrow. I also took the opportunity to visit Piteccio—the village where I lived before moving to Montecatini—to handle some bureaucratic matters. It’s a small, somewhat melancholy hamlet nestled in the hills near Pistoia. To be honest, I don’t miss it at all; I never liked the gossipy, narrow-minded people who live there. In fact, I ran into the same old faces—nosy, bitter individuals. No, it’s definitely not a place I would ever move back to, or even visit for pleasure, though I’ll still have to return occasionally since my grandmother lives there. Anyway, while I was in the area, I took the chance to go for a walk nearby. Unfortunately, parts of the village have been left to their own devices and feel rather bleak. Because it’s located on the outskirts of the municipality, the local administration doesn’t pay much attention to these small hamlets—leaving the wooded areas to fall into neglect, seemingly hoping that some local retiree might take it upon themselves to look after them.

Anyway, the truth is that I quite like somewhat desolate places, so I took the opportunity to snap some photos of the surrounding nature. I tried to capture a few interesting scenes: not just stretches of road framed by vegetation, but also wild plants and flowers (the white ones are lovely, though I suspect they might be a climbing species). I also took note of various nooks and details of houses that have been abandoned and in ruins for years—now covered in ivy, which, in my opinion, gives them a somewhat romantic air—along with other small details around the area. In short, although I don’t particularly get along with the locals, the village has its own charm and unique characteristics, making it a pleasant place for a stroll. Well, that’s all for now; see you soon, friends of the blog!
