To get there, it takes about a half-hour walk past lovely buildings, leading to an avenue lined with high-end luxury shops (like Prada, Chanel, and Versace), elegant homes, and historic edifices. Interspersed among the shops are plenty of charming spots—gelato parlors and restaurants—making it a truly lively avenue. It’s bustling not just on weekends but throughout the week, as it is a favorite destination for tourists. This avenue leads directly to Piazza del Popolo, one of the city's main squares; it is a vast, open space where several streets converge. You can spot the square from a distance, as the small tower belonging to the local church's bell tower is immediately visible. I headed there because a folk music festival is being held in the square—an event I hope to tell you more about very soon.

It is a very elegant, paved square surrounded by some of the city's finest hotels, such as the Hotel Plaza, the Grand Hotel, and the Locanda Maggiore—establishments that are elegant, renowned, and quite expensive. The square also features various taverns, trendy spots, and upscale restaurants, alongside historic shops like the local herbalist and the city's long-established optician. Furthermore, the square is home to the Basilica of Maria Assunta—one of the churches most beloved by locals; I haven't visited it yet, though I plan to remedy that soon. There is also a commemorative plaque honoring two young partisans whose lives were cut short by Nazi troops right in front of the church—a significant historical reminder. This is one of the city's liveliest squares and a hub of local nightlife; it also hosts many official events, including New Year's Eve celebrations and major festivals, as well as various art, music, and entertainment gatherings. It is a truly magnificent square, featuring a beautiful, elegant fountain in the center that lights up in a multitude of colors at night—a real sight to behold. There are also small green areas with benches, though unfortunately, there are too few benches for the number of people who visit; nevertheless, I really enjoyed the square and will certainly be back soon.
