Yesterday afternoon, my husband and I went to the doctor because he had to have tests for an umbilical hernia, and the doctor is about half an hour from our house, so we took the opportunity to walk there. Meanwhile, I can tell you that the tests didn't go very well, meaning he'll have to undergo surgery, but as you can see from the photos, he's in good health so far. Anyway, to get to the doctor's office and back, we took a lovely stroll along the tree-lined streets of Montecatini, which never cease to enchant me. As we strolled around the city, we came across several abandoned hotels due to a sharp decline in tourism over the years. One of them, the Hotel Impero, which must have been a luxurious and elegant hotel in the past, is now adorned with beautiful and colorful murals. You know, I love murals and street art, but seeing so many abandoned hotels is always a great disappointment.

Buenas noches, amigos del blog, ¿cómo están? Aquí estoy para mi paseo del miércoles, aunque con un día de retraso. Ayer por la tarde, mi esposo y yo fuimos al médico porque tenía que hacerse pruebas por una hernia umbilical, y el médico está a media hora de nuestra casa, así que aprovechamos para ir caminando. Mientras tanto, les puedo decir que las pruebas no salieron muy bien, lo que significa que tendrá que someterse a una cirugía, pero como pueden ver en las fotos, está bien de salud por ahora. En fin, para ir al consultorio del médico y volver, dimos un agradable paseo por las calles arboladas de Montecatini, que nunca dejan de encantarme. Mientras paseábamos por la ciudad, nos encontramos con varios hoteles abandonados debido a la fuerte caída del turismo en los últimos años. Uno de ellos, el Hotel Impero, que debió ser un hotel lujoso y elegante en el pasado, ahora está adornado con hermosos y coloridos murales. Saben, me encantan los murales y el arte callejero, pero ver tantos hoteles abandonados siempre es una gran decepción.

Continuing along the tree-lined avenues, we were still sad to find several old buildings, probably in the Art Nouveau style, like many parts of the city. They were abandoned and left completely neglected, even unsafe. It's a great shame. The city sometimes has a melancholy air, like a cemetery from Montecatini's past. Fortunately, as we got closer to the center, we found much more well-maintained and well-kept buildings, along with some curious and charming wooden benches. This part of the city is newer and better maintained, and I like it better. Nearing our house, we also came across a nice supermarket with some beautiful yellow roses. They're magnificent. Siguiendo por las avenidas arboladas, nos entristeció encontrar varios edificios antiguos, probablemente de estilo Art Nouveau, como en muchas partes de la ciudad. Estaban abandonados y completamente descuidados, incluso inseguros. Es una verdadera lástima. La ciudad a veces tiene un aire melancólico, como un cementerio del pasado de Montecatini. Afortunadamente, al acercarnos al centro, encontramos edificios mucho más bien conservados y cuidados, junto con algunos bancos de madera curiosos y encantadores.
