Then I decided to read the first paragraph of each story to see which one would grab me; there are nine stories, and as I usually do, I started from the back and worked my way forward. The funny thing was that I ended up sticking with the first one, “Graffiti”; had I known, I would have started like everyone else, at the beginning.
Cortázar’s storytelling is magical; in this story, he transports us to the most beautiful imaginary declaration of love. I remembered those moments in adolescence when you start to like someone and feel embarrassed for them to see you—and he doesn’t even know you exist, hahaha—but it stirs up emotions, a million dopamine surges.
The author prefers to call graffiti “drawings,” and they’re a way to communicate, to rebel, to love, to feel anguish, to feel compassion, and to distance oneself. A beautiful way of being in the Here and Now. I wonder if the person who made one of these drawings along the route I take every day consciously considered its impact. It says: “Everyone knows by now. Ana, you damn whore.” I’m not sure about the punctuation because they didn’t use any, but as Cortázar said, “…somehow I had to say goodbye to you and at the same time ask you to carry on.”

No encontraba por dónde empezar porque no terminaban de engancharme. Decidí seleccionarlos por el nombre y escogí "La noche de Mantequilla", pero no, no funcionó; no quise saber más sobre una pelea de boxeo, así que abandoné en la tercera página.

Me pregunto si quien hizo uno de estos dibujos por la vía que transito todos los días, consideró, conscientemente, su impacto. Dice: "Ya todo se sabe. Ana, maldita Puta". No estoy segura de la puntuación porque no usaron ninguna, pero así como dijo Cortázar "...de alguna manera tenía que decirte adiós y a la vez pedirte que siguieras."
