Greetings and blessings, runners.
Each morning these past few days, I wake up eagerly hoping for news of survivors from this tragedy; we haven't lost hope, and our collective prayers are working—every survivor is a miracle, and that is the news we long to see most. When I got up, I wasn't sure whether to go out and train; it’s a strange feeling to carry on with our lives when so many others will never be able to return to their routines. It was a clear, cold morning; I headed out very early, and the streets were quiet, with only a few other people out exercising. I ran a short distance today, choosing a place that brings me peace and tranquility—the spot where the Virgin Mary stands, and where I know she is sheltering everyone who has suffered so much with her mantle. The first kilometer felt heavy, but once my body warmed up, I picked up the pace; I felt an urge to go faster and faster until I reached the Virgin. I stopped there to breathe and gaze at the calm sea under a beautiful sky. I spent a few minutes giving thanks for those rescued alive—those who stayed strong and never lost faith that they would be found beneath the rubble—and I prayed for their continued protection.
I’ve returned home feeling better, having released a lot of tension after finishing my 6-kilometer run. Tough times lie ahead, so we must stay physically and mentally healthy; training will help us greatly. The displays of unity during this catastrophe have made us very strong, and we will continue to do our part to support those who have lost so much.
Today, I am joining the effort to support two fellow members, @natalimcr27 and
@carisma77, who lost their homes and belongings in this catastrophe.
