Usualmente, cuando vamos a un lugar a tomar café, lo hacemos en compañía -sea por invitación o por hábito - y en algunos casos, compramos de pasada por algún establecimiento, pero no nos quedamos ahí, a menos que esperemos a alguien.
Sin embargo, de vez en cuando yo me hago una autoinvitación a cualquier sitio random, para pasar un tiempo a solas, y aunque tengo varios meses que no voy a este sitio, confieso que es un lugar al que me encanta ir, pues siempre tienen una sorpresa que ofrecer.
Al entrar, un amable Frankenstein me ofrece la mano, pero realmente preferí sonreírle y seguir de largo. No se sabe cuál puede ser su verdadera intención detrás de esa fachada de caballerosidad. Afortunadamente no tomó represalias y quedó ahí para recibir a la siguiente persona que entrara al local.
La decoración ecléctica del lugar es la que hace que muchos clientes (así como yo) repitan la experiencia cada tanto, además de tener comidas ricas, promociones atractivas, un agradable ambiente musical y eventos temáticos en fechas particulares. De hecho, el año pasado nos perdimos halloween, ya para este, tenemos recordatorios en toda la casa para ir a ver y disfrutar de lo que tengan preparado para ese día.
Ese día me encontré con Robert Downey Jr., quien vestía de bombero, pero igual lo reconocí apenas entré, y hasta posé junto a él haciendo la misma señal de la victoria con la mano. Y aunque parezca algo exagerado, poder estar al lado de figuras de este tipo de tamaño natural, me hace sentir como si estuviera en el museo de madame Tussauds.
En este local, la experiencia va más allá de lo que puedas comer y beber, pues el personal es bastante receptivo y te permiten fotografiar todo, y hasta te ayudan a tomar la foto cuando ven que te resulta complicado o estás con otras personas.
El cafecito estuvo delicioso, a la altura de las expectativas, pero también fue una tarde de esas que en una hora recargas energías como para que duren una semana completa. Y fue justo cuando iba a pagar, que me percaté que la seguridad del lugar está más que blindada con la presencia de un ¡Stormtroopers!
Fui para tomarme un café a solas, pero me encontré tantas caras conocidas, que aunque estaban presentes, no interrumpieron de este tiempo de relajación que estaba buscando en ese lugar.
Usually, when we go somewhere for coffee, we do so with others—whether by invitation or out of habit—and in some cases, we stop by a place on the way, but we don’t stay there unless we’re waiting for someone.
However, every now and then I invite myself to some random place to spend some time alone, and even though I haven’t been to this place in several months, I have to admit it’s a spot I love to visit, since they always have a surprise in store.
Upon entering, a friendly Frankenstein offers me his hand, but I actually preferred to just smile at him and keep walking. You never know what his true intentions might be behind that facade of chivalry. Fortunately, he didn’t retaliate and stayed there to greet the next person who walked in.
The place’s eclectic decor is what keeps many customers (myself included) coming back every so often, in addition to the delicious food, attractive promotions, a pleasant musical atmosphere, and themed events on special dates. In fact, we missed Halloween last year, but this year we have reminders all over the house to go check out and enjoy whatever they have planned for that day.
That day I ran into Robert Downey Jr., who was dressed as a firefighter, but I recognized him as soon as I walked in, and I even posed next to him, making the same victory sign with my hand. And although it might seem a bit over the top, being able to stand next to life-size figures like this makes me feel as if I were at Madame Tussauds.
At this spot, the experience goes beyond just what you can eat and drink, since the staff is very welcoming and lets you take pictures of everything—they’ll even help you take the photo when they see you’re having trouble or are with other people.
That day, the coffee was delicious—it lived up to my expectations—but it was also one of those afternoons where, in just an hour, you recharge your energy enough to last a whole week. And it was just as I was about to pay that I realized the venue’s security was top-notch—with a Stormtrooper on duty!
I went there to have a coffee alone, but I ran into so many familiar faces; even though they were there, they didn’t interrupt the relaxing time I was seeking at that spot.
