Beyond collecting and sorting non-organic waste, I have always thought that we should know where we could take those that can be reused or recycled, to complete the process of minimizing the impact of garbage and prevent good intentions from falling by the wayside.
That is why I found this reception center for plastic caps and batteries to be excellent.
It is located in the Retiro station of the Buenos Aires subway, right in the area where you buy tickets for long distance trips.
I have long saved the plastic caps to donate to organizations that help stray animals and even to a foundation to help the families of children with cancer, but being here I have not seen many collection centers, so I have a lot of caps to locate.
As for the batteries, it is the first one I see, and the truth is that I think they are so necessary, because this material is highly polluting as to be discarded anywhere.
As I didn't have the caps with me I didn't go in, but I intended to go back and take them, since the center where I was going to deposit them was located in a Starbucks that I used to visit and it was closed.
Anyway, from what I saw when I passed by, I think that few people notice the presence of this center, although my positive view of things tells me that they may have recently emptied the containers.
What I do think is necessary is to have many more of these centers in some of the train and subway stations, as well as a strong campaign to call the population to action, and not only those who are already active in this work.
Do you take actions of this kind? Do you know of other collection centers like this one?
