Making pizza and drinking a beer. Things do not go to plan.
I am experimenting today with a new cheese alternative. It seems to work OK. Meltiness and stretchiness might be a bit better than the original Daiya mozzarella substitute I also used.
The yeast was difficult and didn't want to raise. I didn't have the water too hot. The yeast proofed fine in warm water before I mixed it into the dough. The dough just refused to raise. I rolled it into a crust anyway, spread some spaghetti sauce over the top, added the fake cheeses, and then topped it off with Canadian bacon and pineapple tidbits.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The result looks good enough to eat, though. The crust finally raised nicely while it baked. All's well that ends well. Sometimes things don't need to go perfectly to turn out OK in the end.
And finally, to go along with this pie, we have a beer: New Belgium Voodoo Ranger American Haze.
5% ABV: not too strong, not too weak.
30 IBU: not very bitter at all.
Hops: citrusy
Malt: not overly sweet or syrupy.
All told: not a bad brew. Had I bought more, I would be tempted to drink more.
Cheers!
