It was the second last day of the year and I have been wanting to eat out and hang out with a family friend. So, last night we had an impromptu dim sum night at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur!
We have a very close family friend who used to be my husband's neighbour and he is also our church friend. This year he has gone through a lot and had a hard time. So since last week, I kept having a thought to spend some time with him. Yesterday my in-laws have my two boys with them because I wanted to do some spring cleaning at home too. With them around, I usually accomplish nothing as I want to secretly throw some of their older toys. Still not done yet but suddenly I asked my husband if we wanted to go supper with this friend. He was having gym till 11pm so I thought maybe it was a bit too late.
Nevertheless....
We still went to Mee Bon Kopitiam at Jalan Ipoh. Jalan Ipoh is quite known for its late night dim sum as they open till 1am.
The dim sum has quite a bit of variety though they had run out of har gao which is prawn dumplings. What a shame! The 3 of us all love that actually. We ordered some steamed ribs, siew mai (pork dim sum), yellow custard buns, seaweed pork roll, prawn rolls, salad prawns, sweet and sour chicken feet and some portions were doubled. We did 2 round of ordering. One was when I first arrived with the husband. Another was after my friend arrived after his gym. I really loved the sweet and sour chicken feet as it was too delicious, so I repeated my order on that. Then there was the yellow custard bun which was really good as I haven't eaten a good one in years too. Eating it while it is hot and the yellow salted egg custard bursted out from the bun with just one bite, woohoo!! Loved it!
After eating, we had some hearty talk with the friend to actually show support for him who is going through a divorce. It has been so difficult yet we are so proud of him going to God every time he needs to process his emotions. This was my intention too as I haven't talked much to him about it though my husband was actually his constant companion when he was going through it. Honestly we could not help much too as it is a personal matter after all. It was a really sad thing to see it has to come to this. Just thankful for some genuine real friends who do life together with us.
