I’m not sure where I learned this recipe, or who came up with it, what I do know is that it is delicious and low in carbs, high in protein.
Ingredients:
16 ounces of sausage meat (pork or turkey)
8 ounces cream cheese (regular or reduced fat)
Milk (whole, 2%, or skim) - can be substituted with water
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Method:
Cook the Sausage: In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage. Break it into small equal pieces and keep breaking it up for even cooking and a fine consistancy that is free fof clumps.
Remove Excess Fat: If needed, spoon off excess fat.
Season: Add garlic and onion powder to taste.
Add Cream Cheese and Milk: Reduce heat, add cream cheese and ½ cup of milk. Stir until well mixed.
Simmer: Reduce to a low simmer. Cover and simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring frequently.
Customize: Adjust milk for desired consistency. Try spicy sausage or half and half for a twist!
Serving Suggestions: Enjoy with eggs, biscuits, or toast. Store in the refrigerator or freeze for later use.
Cooking Time: 1 hour or more.
