“See, it was nice to be young, because you could do the dumbest stuff with no guilt.”
This from nine-year-old George Ludlow, looking at his baby brother five-year-old Lil' Robert insistently getting his head through the armhole of his red T-shirt absolutely destroyed the composure of their grandmother and adoptive mother, Mrs. Thalia Ludlow, who just took both boys into her arms as she laughed until she cried.
“I want some!” seven-year-old Amanda Ludlow said as she came running to the joy.
Capt. R.E. Ludlow, husband of Thalia, grandfather and adoptive father to Lil' Robert, George, and Amanda, just took one look at the configuration and started laughing, and then rolled when Mrs. Ludlow explained the situation she walked into in order to help out Lil' Robert.
“First of all, George standing up there talking about it was nice to be young – and talking about Rob doing the dumbest stuff –!” and he almost fell off the bed laughing. "This is the same boy who wanted to eat half-cooked beans to get the gas to power his space rocket!”
“Would have powered his own trip to the hospital if we had let him!” Mrs. Ludlow said.
“They say laughter keeps you young!” Capt. Ludlow said. “We live in the Fountain of Youth with these little Ludlows!”
“I know!” Mrs. Ludlow said as they fell back laughing again.
