If they tell me today is the end of the internet, I will first laugh, then I will panic.
Because honestly, what will I do without internet? My whole life is inside phone. My work, my church group messages, my Hive posts, my small business customers, everything is online. If internet ends today, I think half of the world will just stop.
I imagine waking up and my data is not connecting. I will on and off my phone, remove SIM, put it back, nothing. Then I go outside and everybody is shouting, "network no dey, internet don finish." People will be running up and down. Students that have exam online will be crying. People that do online business will lose money. Even to send ordinary message you will have to go to the person's house.
But on the other side, maybe it will help us. Maybe we will start talking to each other face to face again........ We will visit our friends instead of just chatting. We will sit outside in the evening and gist like before. No more fake life on social media, no more people pressing phone from morning till night. Life will be quiet again.
Still, I don't want internet to end. We have come too far. Internet has helped me learn many things I did not know. It connected me to people from other countries that I have never met. It gave me a voice to write.
If internet ends, I think we will survive, but it will be hard at first. Very hard.
We should learn to balance it, not let internet control our whole life, so that if it ever ends, we will still know how to live.
