27 October 2026 @marinnewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 3269 The End Of The Internet.
This is my post on #freewriters3269 #dailyprompt the end of the internet hosted by @marinnewest's.
One Monday morning, Nigerians woke up to a terrible surprise. The internet had stopped working across the country. No WhatsApp messages, no Facebook, no Google, and no online banking! Everyone was confused.
In Lagos, business owners could no
t receive payments from their customers. Students preparing for examinations could not access online lessons. In Abuja, workers struggled to attend virtual meetings, while traders in Onitsha complained about losing money.
At first, many people thought it was a network problem. However, after several hours, the government announced that the internet had mysteriously disappeared worldwide.
Tunde, a young Nigerian student, was worried because he depended on the internet for his studies. He decided to visit his teacher, who encouraged him to use textbooks and discuss difficult topics with his classmates.
Surprisingly, people began visiting their neighbours, playing traditional games, reading books, and sharing stories. Families spent more time together, and children returned to playing football in the streets.
After seven days, the internet suddenly returned. Nigerians celebrated happily, but Tunde had learnt an important lesson: technology was useful, but life could continue without it.
From that day, he balanced his time between the internet and real-life activities.
