This is my post on #freewriters3259 #dailyprompt on the other side of the fence hosted by marinnewest@marinnewest's.

There was a tall wooden fence between two houses in a small village called Ikot Obong. On one side lived a poor boy named Daniel, while on the other side lived a wealthy family.
Daniel often watched the beautiful house across the fence. The family had expensive cars, delicious food, and beautiful clothes. He believed that everyone on the other side of the fence lived a perfect life.
One afternoon, Daniel heard a loud cry from the neighbouring house. Curious, he climbed a small tree and looked over the fence. He saw the wealthy man's son, Michael, sitting alone in the garden, crying bitterly.
Daniel called out, "Why are you crying?"
Michael replied, "My parents are always busy with work. They buy me everything, but they never have time to play with me. I feel lonely every day."
Daniel was surprised. He had always thought Michael was the happiest boy in the world.
"My father died when I was young," Daniel said. "My mother struggles to feed us, but she always finds time to make me smile. Sometimes, we share one meal, but we are happy together."
Michael wiped his tears and smiled sadly.
From that day, the boys became friends. They played together every evening and shared their experiences. Michael learnt to appreciate the little things in life, while Daniel discovered that wealth could not buy everything.
One day, Michael's father noticed their friendship and began spending more time with his son.
