25 October 2026, Freewriters Community Daily Writing Prompt Day 3267: weird factory
“If you think about it, though, Gracie, gummy bears have to be made in a weird factory, because you gotta have room for bears to come pose for their pictures.”
Eight-year-old Edwina Ludlow and eight-year-old Gracie Trent were talking about places fashion (maybe) popped up where people least expected it.
“I mean, gummy worms are easy,” Edwina continued. “Worms just do worm looks, but a bear sitting up takes some work. I mean, posing a bear has got to take some work unless they are raised to be models.”
“I suppose they pay them in honey and put the rest in the gummy worms,” Gracie said. “And, they gotta use a lot of edible crayons to get all that color in there.”
“Honey and crayons – yeah, that would get the right gumminess,” Edwina said. “Non-toxic crayons taste kinda interesting, actually – my favorites were the blue ones, although I don't like like blueberries all that much.”
“Well, blueberries are blue on the outside, but not blue through like a crayon,” Gracie said. “A crayon probably has more blue flavor through.”
“You know, when you are three, you don't even know stuff like that,” Edwina said, “but that just makes so much sense, Gracie.”
