Today’s Activity Report
Most of my day was spent glued to a screen. Between content creation, editing, and publishing across a few platforms, the computer work can eat up hours, and my steps on those days would normally look pretty modest. That’s exactly why my gym session matters so much. It’s where I take back my movement for the day.
Today I still closed out at 25,814 steps, and a big chunk of that came from my usual Planet Fitness routine here in New Westminster.
My Typical Gym Workout
My sessions follow a simple rhythm that I can rely on, even on days when I’m mentally fried from sitting:
- Treadmill warm-up: Easy pace to loosen up after hours in a chair, and a big contributor to the step count
- Weightlifting: Machines and free weights, working through the major muscle groups
- Rowing: A good full-body finisher that undoes the desk-hunch
- Recovery: Stretching, and when I’m feeling it, a little red light therapy or a HydroMassage to wrap things up
Why the Gym Matters on Desk-Heavy Days
When the workday is mostly sitting, the gym stops being optional. It breaks up the stillness, gets the blood moving, and gives my brain a reset before I head back to my screen. I always feel sharper and more creative afterward, which feeds right back into my content.
Takeaways
- Desk-heavy days don’t have to mean low-movement days
- A consistent routine makes it easy to show up even when motivation is low
- Every step counts, and tracking it with Actifit keeps me honest
