Actifit Report — 38,375 Steps: A Full Gym Grind
Today’s numbers came in strong: 38,375 steps, and every one of them earned. This wasn’t a casual stroll kind of day—it was a full gym session, the kind that stacks up mileage without you even noticing until you check the tracker and do a double take.
The Breakdown
My typical routine at Planet Fitness pulls from a few different corners of the gym floor, and it’s the variety that really racks up the step count:
- Treadmill work — steady state plus intervals, the biggest single contributor to today’s total
- Weightlifting circuits — walking between stations, racking and unracking plates, pacing through supersets
- Rowing — not step-heavy on its own, but the setup, transitions, and recovery walks add up
- Pickleball — lateral movement and quick bursts that Actifit counts differently than steady walking, but the cumulative effect on the total is real
- Yoga — lower step contribution, but essential for keeping the rest of the routine sustainable
After the main work, I wound down with some recovery time in the Body Angel red light therapy booth and a HydroMassage session—not step generators, but a reminder that recovery is as much a part of the routine as the movement itself.
Why the Number Matters
38,375 steps is well above what I’d call a “typical” day even by my own standards. It’s a good marker of what a full, intentional gym day looks like when nothing gets skipped—cardio, strength, mobility, and the game-like movement of pickleball all in the same session.
Closing Thoughts
Days like this are a good reminder that consistency compounds. No single element of the routine did the heavy lifting (pun intended)—it was the combination, plus the willingness to move between stations instead of parking at one machine for an hour.
Here’s to the next report and whatever number it brings.
