Ostatnie dni przed wyjazdem z Polski, są zwykle bardzo zwariowane. Zakupy na wyjazd, trochę polskiej wędlin, ale tego jest już zdecydowanie mniej niż kilka lat temu. Teraz to w zasadzie symboliczne ilości, jakieś kabanosy czy śliwki w czekoladzie, żeby rozdać Belgom polskie dobra narodowe. Przyzwyczaiłem się do belgijskich produktów, a gdy najdzie mnie ochota na coś polskiego to jest dość dobrze zaopatrzona półka w sklepie na bazie.
[ENG] Last days before leaving Poland are usually very crazy. Shopping for a trip, some Polish cold cuts, but there is much less of that now than a few years ago. Now, it's actually symbolic amounts, some kabanos sausages or plums in chocolate to give away to the Belgians as Polish national goods. I got used to Belgian products and when I feel like eating something Polish, there is quite a well-stocked shelf in the store.
Byliśmy też u teścia, a wracając trafiliśmy w jednej z wiosek na niecodzienne wydarzenie. Kilka wozów strażackich stało na "bombach", ale nie było widać dymu. Jadąc dalej zobaczyliśmy, że wszystkie drzewa po obu stronach drogi na długości około kilometra od wioski do głównej drogi zostało "przyozdobionych" biało-czerwonymi flagami. Ktoś wymyślił, żeby do tych drzew przybić metalowe uchwyty na drzewce. Zastanowiło nas co mogło być przyczyną takiego poruszenia? Może prezydent na dożynki przyjechał, albo sołtys nowy kombajn kupił? Dopiero po powrocie do domu na FB zobaczyliśmy news, że OSP w tej wsi dostało nowy wóz strażacki, stąd te całe poruszenie. Tylko drzew szkoda! co one im zawiniły? ale z drugiej strony dobrze, że nikt nie wpadł na pomysł ich wycięcia na przejazd nowego wozu strażackiego. Spojrzałem wieczorem na pokonany dystans na Garminie i nie mogłem uwierzyć, że w ciągu tej całodniowej gonitwy przeszedłem ponad 15 kilometrów.
[ENG] We were also at my father-in-law's house, and on our way back we hit an unusual event in one of the villages. Several fire engines were standing on "lights" but there was no smoke visible. Driving on, we saw that all the trees on both sides of the road for about a kilometer from the village to the main road were "decorated" with polish flags. Someone thought of nailing metal holders to these trees. It made us wonder what could have caused such a stir? Maybe the president came to the harvest festival, or the village leader bought a new combine harvester? Only after returning home did we see on FB the news that voluntary fire brigade in this village got a new fire truck, hence all this commotion. Only the trees are a pity! What is their fault? But on the other hand, it is good that no one came up with the idea of cutting them down for the passage of the new fire truck. I looked at the distance on my Garmin in the evening and couldn't believe that I had walked more than 15 kilometers during this all-day chase.
